NEW--There will be a fundraiser for the Taos High School After School Music Program on October 24 from 4 to 7 pm at Shadows Lounge and Grill:

Admission is free, but a contribution of $10 or more will be appreciated. There will be live entertainment, including Meredith Blis-Sinkoff on the keyboard and

Roger Landes on guitar.

RED CHILE SALE FOR FOOTBALL--I will be selling red hatch chili for the Taos Tiger Football team. The chili comes in 1lb bags for $6.00. We have medium,

hot, and carribe (crushed). I can take them to you. Ms. Mae LaBella

Taos High School Drama Department will be performing the play, "The Dining Room" By, A R Gurney on Thursday October 22, Friday Oct 23 and Saturday

October 24th in The Little Theater. Performances will take place at 7:00 pm sharp. Admission is $5.00 for students and $10.00 for the general public There

will be a bake sale during intermission to help raise money for the Drama Dept. Please come support the drama kids! They have all worked very hard. Thank

Halloween Candy Grams will be sold by HOSA and can be purchased from Mrs. Chavez during lunch, before or after school and will be on sale during lunch

in the lobby. Candy grams will be delivered Oct 30 during 6th and 7th period. Mini Grams $1.00, Grams $3.00 and Mega Grams $5.00. Each purchase will

enter you to win a prize!

Students interested in joining the Taos High School Swim Team should stop by Room 213 and talk with Mr. Donough. No experience necessary. Practice

starts November 2nd.

Only 14 days to the first official day of boys and girls basketball tryouts and practice which begin on Monday, November 2, 2009. If you are interested in participation, each

student-athlete must have a signed doctor's physical examination and no-use contract on file in the athletic director's office before the starting date. Failure to take care of this

responsibility before the first official day will not allow your participation and could affect whether or not you make the team. If you have any questions or concerns, please see

the Athletic Director/Head Boys Basketball Coach, James Branch or Head Girl's Basketball Coach, Robert Trujillo or his top assistant Benny Mitchell. Currently both programs

are having pre-season basketball conditioning drills after school. The boys are meeting at the auxiliary gym at the middle school from 5:00-6:15(30) p.m. from Mondays through

Thursdays. Thank you.

FALL FANDANGO ART CONTEST--Taos County Students, we are looking for your original art work. Winning entries will be featured as centerpieces for the Taos Historic

Museum’s Fall Fandango Charity Fundraiser, November 14, 2009 at the Sagebrush Inn. Rules: Please submit original New Mexico themed, 3-dimensional art work that can be

displayed as a centerpiece. Entries cannot be larger than 12” tall and 12” wide. Senior Category: Students aged 14 – 18. ENTRIES DUE NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 1, 2009.

Taos High School Cheer is still raising funds for their space at the 2009 Holiday Bowl in San Diego, CA. They will be hosting an Enchilada Dinner at the Juan I Gonzales

building on October 23rd from 6-8:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and available from any cheerleader. Please support our girls in their bold adventure to raise the money they need --

$30,000 by December 1. Go Tigers!

Photo Retakes for underclassmen is THURSDAY, October 22nd. Students can still place orders for the picture sitting they just took on the 18 th. Please see Ms. Galligan or go to

The American Civil Liberties Union is offering 15 of the nation’s most committed, young civil liberties activists $7,000 each toward their first year in

college. Winners will also become part of an elite class of scholar-activists who will be invited to participate in ongoing activities with the ACLU,

including the Youth Activist Institute training program at the ACLU National office in New York City. We are looking for students who have stood up for

ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) required by the military and an indicator of what types of careers you may be good at will be

administered on Thursday, November 12, 2009. See Ms. Karraker if you are interested in signing up for the exam.
