									                            ÁREA - INVESTIGAÇÃO
- Knowledge, skills and competence to be acquired:
The aim of the present training period is to obtain the knowledge, skills and competence in
activities related to the Pharmaceutical Sciences.


- Detailed programme of the training period:

The student should be able to develop a research project in a pharmaceutical science area.
During the placement, the student will integrate a research group and obtain autonomy in
his/her work. The student must develop capacity to discuss and present results.


- Tasks of the trainee:
The student will be integrated in a research team and will participate in all group activities such
as seminars, Lab meetings, and journal clubs, among others. Besides interaction with other
students and staff, the student will have his/hers individual project under supervision of a
mentor
Τhe student will be involved in a project related with Pharmaceutical Sciences. All the tasks of
the trainee will be described in the final report performed by the student.


- Monitoring and Mentoring of the participant:
A mentor of the student will be nominated by the contact person of the receiving organization.
The student will have regular meetings with the training period mentor/ to discuss the activities.
A final report will be prepared by the student, which must reflect the work performed and
training received during his/her stay. The report should be organized as a journal paper, with
abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusion and references sections. This
report should be approved by the mentor.


- Evaluation and Validating of the training placement:
The mentor will perform a global evaluation of the training period of the student (filling the
“Student Mobility Evaluation” document), which will be important for his/her final grade. The
report will be discussed and evaluated at a final exam at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of
Porto, Portugal.
                 ÁREA – FARMÁCIA COMUNITÁRIA

- Knowledge, skills and competence to be acquired:
The aim of the present training period is to obtain the knowledge, skills and competence in
activities related to the Pharmaceutical Sciences.


- Detailed programme of the training period:
The aims of the placement are related with the pharmaceutical activities:
a) Development and preparation of the pharmaceutical drugs;
b) registration, manufacture and testing of medicinal products for human and veterinary use and
medical devices;
c) laboratory quality control of medicines and medical devices;
d) storage, preservation and wholesale distribution of medicinal products for human and
veterinary use and medical devices;
e) preparation, testing, selection, acquisition, storage and dispensing of medicinal products for
human and veterinary use and medical devices in pharmacies open to the public, hospital
pharmaceutical services and pharmaceutical services from any other public and private entity;
f) preparation of antiseptic solutions, disinfectants and intravenous mixtures;
g) Interpretation and evaluation of prescriptions;
h) Information and consultation on medicinal products for human and veterinary use, medical
devices and non-prescription medicine, with health professionals and patients in order to
promote their proper use;
i) monitoring, surveillance and control of distribution, dispensing and use of medicinal products
for human and veterinary and medical devices;
j) Monitoring of drugs, including the determination of pharmacokinetic parameters and the
establishment of individualized treatment regimens;
k) Collection of biological products, implementation and interpretation of clinical analysis;
l) Implementation and interpretation of toxicological, hydrological and chemical analysis;
f) All acts or functions directly related to the activities described in the preceding paragraphs.


- Tasks of the trainee:
The student should participate in these activities
1- Organization of the physical and functional space of the pharmacy:
2- Research at the library and other information resources of the pharmacy
3- Stock management of the pharmacy
4- Orders and supply of the Pharmacy
5- Ensure a system of drug and other devices maintenance in the Pharmacy
6- Characteristic aspects of buying and selling exhibition
7- Raw materials and reagents management

A mentor of the student will be nominated by the contact person of the receiving organization.
The student will have regular meetings with the training period mentor/ to discuss the activities.
A final report will be prepared by the student, which must reflect the work performed and
training received during his/her stay. The report should be organized as a journal paper, with
abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusion and references sections. This
report should be approved by the mentor.

The aims of the placement are related with the hospital pharmaceutical activities:
a) development and preparation of the pharmaceutical drugs;
b) laboratory quality control of medicines and medical devices;
c) storage, preservation and wholesale distribution of medicinal products for human use and
medical devices;
d) preparation, testing, selection, acquisition, storage and dispensing of medicinal products for
human use and medical devices in hospital pharmaceutical services;
e) preparation of antiseptic solutions, disinfectants and intravenous mixtures;
f) Interpretation and evaluation of prescriptions;
g) Information and consultation on medicinal products for human use, medical devices and non-
prescription medicine, with health professionals and patients in order to promote their proper
use;

6- Activities of Clinical Pharmacy

                                      ÁREA – OMS

- Knowledge, skills and competence to be acquired:
The aim of the present training period is to obtain the knowledge, skills and competence in
activities related to Public Health.


- Detailed programme of the training period:

The programme of this training period is related with the aims of the ePORTUGUÊSe
programme of World Health Organization (WHO). The ePORTUGUÊSe programme was
created to generate an alliance of institutions in the Portuguese-speaking WHO Member States
(Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Principe
and Timor-Leste) to disseminate information, exchange knowledge and contribute to the
support Human Resources for health in their own language.
The main objectives of the ePORTUGUÊSe are:
• Development and further expansion of the National Virtual Health Library (VHL) created to
facilitate online access to a wealth of health information;
• Facilitate and promote eLearning opportunities for health professionals from the eight
Portuguese speaking countries;
• Produce and deliver a Portuguese language version of the Blue Trunk Library (BTL), to rural
and distant areas to help health professionals to access information in their own language;
• Maintain a Collaborative Space, BLOG, Facebook, Twitter and Discussion Group entirely in
Portuguese;
• Promote and disseminate access to HINARI platform in Portuguese. This is a free or low
cost initiative that helps researchers in developing countries;
• Promote visibility and support to local knowledge in the Portuguese speaking-countries
through different means of communication;
•   Strengthen the South-South collaboration;
• Facilitate integration among other WHO Departments that are working with the Portuguese-
speaking countries;
•   Facilitate integration among countries.


- Tasks of the trainee:
The program provides opportunities for interns to learn about the World Health Organization
and the necessary skills required to work at a National and International level. Interns will learn
about the scope and nature of decision-making and the necessary communication to manage
such a network.
The intern will experience an active role in the management of this network and will be part of a
team under the supervision of the ePORTUGUÊSe Coordinator.
The work required is:
•   Undertaking research in Portuguese in any particular subject area
•   Participating in negotiations involving the Portuguese-speaking countries
•   Participating in on-going departmental projects, when necessary
•   Contributing to successful implementation of the ePORTUGUÊSe platform
•   Contributing to successful dissemination of the ePORTUGUÊSe platform
•   Reviewing literature and web in relevant health matter
•   Contribute to the BLOG, Collaborative Space, Twitter and Facebook
•   Actively participate in the discussion group and maintenance of HIFA-pt
• Assisting in any necessary translation from English into Portuguese and Portuguese into
English
It is expected that interns will work independently, will produce results and will finish tasks.
Interns will have the opportunity to attend several seminars, lectures and presentations.
