Family update
Hello friends.
Exciting news! On October 28th we finally closed on our house!!!! Thank you for all your prayers!! It
was quite the process but we finally closed. October 28th was also the 7 year anniversary of when Ryan
proposed and asked me to marry him! Now we are excited to officially be homeowners and have a nice
home to raise our growing family. It is a fixer-upper, so there is LOTS of work that needs to be done on
the house before it is ready to move in. Thankfully we have many friends who have already pitched in to
help get the house ready. We would like to move in before the baby is born but we’re not sure if it will be
ready in time. We are really excited about our new place! The boys are loving running around the back
yard and hanging out at the new house and “helping work”. James turns 2 on November 5th and
Ryan’s birthday is November 6th, so we will have a little birthday weekend. I still cannot believe that
James is turning 2, he’s growing into such a little boy! I (Sally) am at 34 weeks, December 11th is the
due date. We’ll see if this little guy is a week late like the other two boys. Please continue to pray for my
pregnancy and for the delivery and birth. Pray that this baby boy would come at the right time! We have a
baby registry at Target if you are interested in getting a little something for the baby, check out our blog for
the link. In the last couple weeks Ryan has also done a few fantastic teachings to the onething interns, check
out those messages as well as the notes on our blog as well. http://ryanandsally.blogspot.com
Sermon on the mount
Matthew 5:1-12 The sermon on the mount was one of Jesus’ first teachings to the multitude. John the baptist
preached the message about repenting for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Then in the sermon on the
mount Jesus explains how to repent and then later on what the kingdom of heaven is like (Matt 13). Jesus
preached His message on a common hill where anyone was free to hear his words, distinguishing the fact
that anyone was able to hear His words, not just the holy elite. Jesus providing the example that we should
pray and preach the gospel anywhere. Christ preached this sermon which was an exposition of the law on a
mountain because a mountain is where the law was first given. The difference is that the first time Lord
came down upon the mountain and ordered the people to keep their distance but this time the people are
invited to draw near. It was foretold of Zebulun and Issachar, two of the tribes of Galilee in Deuteronomy
33:19 “that they shall call the people to the mountain; to this mountain we are called, to learn to offer the
sacrifices of righteousness.” Now this was the mountain of the Lord, where He taught us His ways. (Isaiah
2:2, Micah 4:1,2) The message was primarily for Jesus’ disciples since they were the ones who were desiring
to learn and be taught, but the message was heard by the multitude who were mainly following Jesus around
for cures, but Jesus took the opportunity to teach to the multitude as well and they were astonished. Christ
began His sermon with blessings, as He came into the world to bless us as the great High Priest. Each of the
blessings of Christ pronounced has a double intention: 1. To show who they are that are to be accounted truly
happy, and what their attributes are. 2. How true happiness consists, in the promises made to persons of
certain attributes, which the performance of will make them happy. Jesus came to shift their paradigms
about believing that true happiness and blessing comes from wealth, fame or honor. Thus, removing
discouragement off the weak and poor who receive the gospel. Jesus gives eight characteristics of blessed
people; which represent to us the principal graces of a Christian. On each of them a present blessing is
pronounced, Blessed are they; and to each a future blessing is promised, which is variously expressed, fitting
with the grace or duty recommended. The sermon on the mount is a great blueprint and guide for us to
continue to walk in His paths and in His grace. It has great keys and guidelines on how to walk through
certain situations and know how to carry you heart through and walk in victory. Mike Bickle encourages his
staff to read through the sermon on the mount Matthew 5,6,7 at least once a month. It has been so helpful for
us as we read through this sermon of Jesus and apply these truths and graces to our lives. We want to reap
the good fruit of His truths and His promises as we apply them to our lives and we pray that you will too!
Partner with Us! “Sally & I want to invite you to partner with us to build the House of Prayer! We need monthly funders who will give a small amount
faithfully each month. Even $10 a month is a blessing to us! Ask the Lord how He would have you help build night & day prayer & worship” The
wisest thing we can do with our finances is to free people up from the other duties of life to do one thing - Worship God and give Him the Glory due to
His name! Worshiping God is the the most important activity a human can give himself to now and forever. We must have a zeal to build places all
over the earth where God is worshipped on earth as He is in heaven.
