Design and engineering projects have, alongside a higher level education
in industrial and product design, supported a ten-year independent
design career: Creating sculptural designs for tactile functional products
Jonathan specialises in product development from engineering through
concept into production.
Using contemporary research techniques, design for quality maintenance
and production Jonathan considers the total product cycle. Experienced in
aesthetics, human factors, ergonomics, mechanical design and physics
Sheridan can be involved at every level and stage of the design process
helping create beautiful high-tech products sustainable & quality driven.
Currently working on independent marine and product design projects,
academic research at Southampton University is following aesthetic
consideration in large scale and complex engineering systems.

EDUCATION:
Current: MPhil/PHD at Southampton University.
Aesthetics Consideration in Ship Design
Research uses theoretical resources from the philosophy of aesthetics to analyse
taxonomy of facets and features from ship design. Extracting those universally
appreciated features, those that can be shared across type and classification, a
pedagogical approach to ingredients for generative, emergence and bio-mimicry
are hoped to enable the naval architect with durable and ethical design method.
1999-2000 MA - Industrial Design: De Montfort University, Leicester
Research: “Observational Behaviour and 4D Design (Time / Use).”
Project Management, Design writing: End user experience and interface.
This course was recommended by Nigel Grimshaw: Industrial Designers. (The
course was built by Jeremy Myerson (RCA) and run by Ray Holland (Brunel)).
1992-1996 BA (Hons) Product Design: Bournemouth University
Research: “Smart Building Materials” Sustainable Design.
Design methods, manufacturing, production engineering and materials,
workshop skills, model making. Advanced Computer Aided Design.
Design and development of motion audio effects unit, using ultrasonic
sensors to map movement. (i.e. as recent Kinect system by Microsoft)
This degree taught design skills & business knowledge. Best for animation and
character animation, the visualisation CAD technology is second to none.
