Comments: He died of a heart attack while riding in a car driven by

William Stocker of Detroit, on M19 north of Argyle. He died instantly.

He lived in Birmingham a few years. Then he moved to Pigeon in

1933. From 1933-1937 he operated a tavern in Pigeon. In 1937 he

purchased the Hotel Heasty and changed the name to Vollmer Hotel.

Besides a bar business, he owned and operated a large number of

automatic electric record playing machines, which were located in

practically every recreation place and restaurant in the Thumb.

loved to raise roses, and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds at her

window. Her civic affairs are listed in the article. She was preceded in

death by 3 brothers – Carl, Otto, and Wilbert Errer; and 4 sisters - Edna

Bittner, Christina Korman, Irene Heck, and Lilly Pobanz. The funeral

service was Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000.

in Pigeon for many years. She was a past president of VFW Aux. 2236

in Pigeon. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Gloria Vollmer. The

funeral service was Wednesday, March 25, 1998.

Vollmer Sand & Gravel. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to hunt.

He was very mechanically inclined, and enjoyed building and fixing

things. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers – Frank and Arthur; 3

half-brothers – Carl, Ray, and Alfred Vollmer; and 2 half-sisters -

Margaret Schmidt and Mary Hinton. The mass was Monday, Nov. 20,

2000.

Comments: She was killed at 2:00 p.m. when a station wagon, that she

was driving, going east, collided head-on with a large truck going west

on M46, 5 miles east of Saginaw. Also killed was her passenger, Mrs.

Maxine K. Zak, 56, of Saginaw. The driver of truck, Darrel E. Marks,

40 years old, suffered cuts and bruises, and was taken to St. Mary’s

Hospital in Saginaw. It happened on a sweeping curve in heavy rain.
