FHLBank Topeka will host a free web seminar with representatives from MGIC, who will provide a general
overview of underwriting for the secondary market. Becky Elston will review the most common asked
questions concerning manual underwriting, compare manual and automated underwriting and identify
the benefits of using an automated underwriting system. Nate Halverson will demonstrate how to input
information into an automated underwriting system correctly.
Information on our presenters:
Becky Elson, National Underwriting Operations Specialist, has over 16 years of experience in the
mortgage industry, including 9 years with MGIC. Becky began her career as a processor and has done
production underwriting, training, and managed the former MGIC Denver Underwriting operations.
Nate Halverson has three years experience in the loan origination business; plus an additional three years
experience as an account executive with North American Mortgage. He has spent the last four years with
eMagic working with institutions to better understand automated underwriting and how to use the
current automated underwriting systems.
What are Web seminars?
Web seminars are Internet-based tools that allow FHLBank to conduct meetings and training sessions
with stockholders via the Internet. There is no charge to participate.
What are the system requirements?

Participants are required to have Internet access and the following system specifications (which are
standard for most computers) to join the Web conference.
1. Browser – Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0
2. Turn off pop-up blockers – Permit pop-ups (on the Web Browser toolbar, click on Tools, Pop-up
Blocker, Turn off Pop-up Blocker)
3. CPU – 400 MHz
4. RAM – 64 MB
5. Operating System – Windows 2000, XP
6. Network Connections – 56 kbps

For audio accessibility, a touchtone telephone with mute capability works best.
