Digital Advertising within Taxi Cabs
Digital advertising knows no constraints, so why are some taxi cab companies still advertising the
‘old fashioned’ way? It’s time to move on and those deploying innovative forms of digital
advertising are going to be the winners in this competitive world. Long gone are the traditional
forms of paper advertisements and coming in are LCD digital display screens featuring dynamic,
highly visual and captivating advertisements. There is nothing complicated about this form of
media it is purely a progression and evolution within the multi billion dollar world of advertising –
and one you can be a part of. Whilst the taxi business is affluent the additional income of
advertising allows the business to diversify, whilst utilizing the assets of the business (the taxi cabs).
Broadening the range of advertising from radio, billboards and fliers to a digital medium
significantly increases turnover as it attracts clientele in a new way. Many city councils are
endorsing and approving this form of advertising within licensed taxi cabs. Advertising campaigns
can be displayed to a fresh face every few minutes, leading to around 10,000 potential customers
per month, calculated by a taxi being on the road for eight hours, where approximately 100 passers
by will see it. If you consider that fact that taxis spend much of their time in cities, where the
population is densest, the figures certainly add up.
Increasing brand awareness is big business bringing in the big bucks; corporate businesses will pay
good money for optimal advertising opportunities. The hardware may be of significant investment
yet the software can be produced at a very cost effective price. Down time is kept to a minimum, as
much of the content programming is done wirelessly or via Bluetooth, which also has an added
bonus of promoting products or services directly to the customer, offering discounts and freebies to
a compatible Bluetooth mobile or cell phone device.
Placing an LCD digital screen within a taxi cab is both a practical and efficient way of displaying
animated images. A screen or monitor can be either hung from the internal roof of the vehicle, fixed
to the underside of a tip seat (back to back with the driver), which faces the passenger as they travel
in the taxi cab, for the entire journey. These screens offer a targeted advertisement and have a very
positive effect on the captive audience travelling within the licensed cab.
