Japanese Chain Maille Jewelry on Mondays 6-9pm
This course meets once a week for six consecutive weeks.

Class fee: $98 ; supply list provided at registration and at first class.

Brief: Chain Maille is a fun, creative jewelry form for necklaces, bracelets, earrings.

Class Description:
During class you will learn how to make jump rings. Usually, jump rings come in silver, gold, or
nickel. For colored jump rings, you can now make your own. Then the fun begins. Making
Japanese chain maille flowers and groupings for necklaces, bracelets and earrings. You are
encouraged to express your creativity. Purchase beads and findings in your choice of colors and
finishes. The instructor’s expertise is in teaching and leading you through completed jewelry
projects. Stop in the CVA Giftshop to see an example of these beautiful jewelry pieces.

Materials You Need to Purchase on your own to bring to class: IF YOU NEED HELP
   • 20 gauge wire -- You will be making up to 1600 jump rings, so buy a lot of wire! A
       spool may be 8yds; you might need 4 spools in your color choices.
   • Clasp, ear wires, findings in your choice of colors and finishes.
   • Bead mat or bead board (whichever you prefer)
   • Containers for loose jump rings (one for each size ring).
   • Tools: flat nose pliers – 2 pair; flush or side cutter, jump ring opener (fits on your thumb
       like a ring); 4.5mm and 2.5mm I.D. knitting needle or dowel (approx 12”)
