2009 “GREAT STRIDES”

CYSTIC FIBROSIS FOUNDATION

SPONSORSHIP INFORMATION

Saturday April 18th, Gilroy Gardens, Gilroy

Saturday April 25th, Shoreline Park, Mountain View

Saturday May 16th, Santana Row, San Jose

What Is GREAT STRIDES?

Since its inception in 1989, GREAT STRIDES has been the Cystic Fibrosis

Foundation‟s largest fund-raising event. Participants of all ages are encouraged to

collect donations to help support life-saving CF research and care.

It is a fun, family event—and will provide your company with a great team-building

opportunity. With the healthy 10 Kilometer (6.2 miles) walk component, Kids’

Corner activities, food, and festivities, your employees and their families will look

forward to GREAT STRIDES year after year.

But, more importantly, your partnership with the CF Foundation will make your

company visible to a highly loyal and dedicated group of consumers. CF

families recognize and appreciate those companies who invest in cures and the

future of their children.

What Other Companies Are Saying. . .

“We are committed to staying with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation until a cure is found.”

David Cush

American Airlines

"Participating in GREAT STRIDES was a fun way to help a great cause. The highlight of the

walk was meeting the families and individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) who made us feel

appreciated for getting involved and raising money for CF research. Airgas was proud to be

a part of this exciting event."

Kelly Justice

Airgas Puritan Medical

“Participating in GREAT STRIDES has been fabulous for us at Hilton Hotels Corporation.

GREAT STRIDES has become an annual teambuilding activity for many departments from

our office. Everyone feels great supporting the fight to find a cure for CF—and it helps

improve team member morale! We're „doing the right thing because it's the right thing to

do‟ and having fun to boot!”

Jim Hartigan

Hilton Hotels Corporation

“Solvay Pharmaceuticals has proudly supported the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's GREAT

STRIDES walk for more than seventeen years. We are proud to partner with the CF

Foundation on this, and many other important initiatives, because of our organizations‟

shared commitments to helping persons with cystic fibrosis lead healthier lives.”

Laurence Downey, M.D.

Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Partner With A Results-Driven

Organization…

Since 1955, the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to assure the development

of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis (CF) and to improve the quality of life for

those with the disease. The CF Foundation tirelessly pursues its mission by supporting

scientific research, which is dedicated to the discovery and development of new

therapies. At the same time, it funds and accredits a network of specialized treatment

centers that provide state-of the-art care for people with CF. By applying the same

principles that a “for-profit company” follows—efficiency, innovation and a results-

driven approach—the CF Foundation is making a profound difference in the lives of

those with CF.

The CF Foundation Is Efficient.

The CF Foundation has been recognized by publications such as SmartMoney as one of the

most efficient organizations of its kind. Nearly 90 cents of every dollar of revenue raised

is available for investment in vital CF programs to support research, care and education .

The CF Foundation Is Innovative.

The CF Foundation has adopted an innovative business approach to drug

discovery and development that is emulated by other nonprofits. This approach

has been widely recognized by organizations including National Institutes of

Health and publications such as Forbes and

USA Today.
