5. Goals and Objectives
Give a brief descriptive statement of the goals and use the SMART (Specific,
Measurable, Agreed upon, Realistic, Time bound) format for objectives.
To provide a convenient and inexpensive means for employees to become a certified
professional which will increase their self-confidence, improve their moral, and hopefully
result in better retention rates for IT professionals at UGA and the University System.
To meet this goal, the following objectives must be met: a) conduct the training and
testing in a location that is convenient for employees, b) schedule class times in such a
manner as not to interfere with regular work schedules, c) keep the cost at an affordable
level for most departments, and d) provide guarantees to departmental managers for
retraining if employees become certified and then leave to take another job.
6. Phases:
For each Phase (Plan, Build and Run), provide the following information:
a. Project leader for the phase
Plan – Rex Walker
Build – Rex Walker

and EITS staff for technical support of lab setup

Run

Instruction delivered
7. Acceptance Criteria
Requirements that will satisfy the customer(s) needs/demands. How do we know when
the job is done?
Instruction delivered and clients successfully complete certification testing
8. Assumptions/Constraints
List key assumptions made in planning this project. (Assumptions whose validity may
change during project implementation and deployment should also be considered in the
Risk Assessment.) List any constraints that need to be considered (UGA/State/Federal
rules/laws/deadlines, funding, personnel, technological etc.)
Financial resources required for “up front” cost
Sufficient number of employees register
Vendor negotiations are successful
Resources at T&D will be available
9. Risk Assessment/Mitigation
Include a risk assessment table in the format below:
Item Probability Impact (1-5) Risk
(1-5) (1=low, 5=high) (=Probabilty*Impact)
(1=low,
5=high)
Financial resources 1 5 5
Registrations 3 5 15
Negotiations 2 4 8
T&D resources 1 5 5
Provide a mitigation strategy for the three highest risks.
Registrations insufficient to “break even” – refer clients to alternate location for
training and reschedule training
Vendor negotiations are unsuccessful – approach alternate vendors
T&D resources unavailable – provide funding to acquire resources or seek
alternate resources / location
