A candy maker in Indiana,
USA, decided to make a
candy that would tell people
about Jesus, whose birthday
we celebrate at Christmas.
He began with a stick of pure
white candy. The white was
the symbol of Jesus, of the
sinless life he lived.
The candy was hard, to show
that Jesus was the solid rock
on which we can build our
lives, and that God‟s promises
are something we can depend
on.
The candy maker made the
candy in the shape of a „J‟
for Jesus, but also the shape
of a shepherd‟s crook,
reminding us that Jesus is
“the good shepherd” who
searches for those who have
gone astray and need to be
brought back to our Father,
God.
Thinking the candy was
somewhat plain, the candy
maker stained it with red
stripes. This was to remind
us of Jesus dying on the
cross, not for any wrong he
had done, but for our sins.
May this candy remind you
this Christmas, just how
much Jesus loves you.
