Your KNIGHTS WON THEIR SECOND STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 3 YEARS!
National Signing Day CHAMPIONSHIP POSTER
Lexington Catholic held a signing ceremony in the library Attention Football Alumni
on National Signing Day, Wednesday, February 6th at The football team is putting together a 2007 State
3:15pm. The following LC football players signed their letter Championship Poster to offset the cost of rings. The poster
of intent: Winston Guy (#5) signed to play football at UK, will contain a football alumni section. As a Lexington
Andy Mahoney (#70) signed to play football at Murray Catholic Football Alum, you can support the program and
State University and John Meikel (#6) signed to play make a donation of any amount and have your name
football at Washington University in St. Louis. placed in this section. If you have any questions, please

LC Hall of Fame Induction
The 2008 Hall of Fame induction ceremony and reception were held on Friday, January 18, 2008, at Memorial
Coliseum at the LCHS doubleheader versus Mason County. Tricia Crowe ’94 and Coach Bob Sphire were our 2008
inductees! The reception was held at the Joe Kraft Center with Tricia and Bob inviting their family and friends. Sandy
Dever,’68, introduced Tricia and Coach Maurice Dixon introduced Bob at the reception. Tricia and Bob were then
presented with their Hall of Fame plaques by President David Hardin at halftime of the boy’s game. Among Tricia’s many
honors, she was the 1994 Miss Kentucky Softball. Her stats that year were: Batting Average 851, On Base Percentage
923. Coach Bob Sphire was hired by Father Bob Bueter to begin the football program in January 1991, culminating with
the 2005 Class AAA State Championship. Among his personal honors were the 2001 AP Kentucky High School Coach of
the Year and the 1998 Class AA Louisville Courier Journal Coach of the Year. Bob Sphire is currently the Head Coach at
North Gwinnett High school in Georgia. The Hall of Fame banners are hanging in Alumni Gym. Congratulations Tricia
Crowe ’94 and Coach Bob Sphire.
Alumni Player Profile
Kevin Bruggeman
#63 (1991 & 92 Season)
Kevin is a '93 graduate of Lexington Catholic where he
was a four year letterman in baseball, and also a two year
letterman, while playing on the first ever football team at
Lexington Catholic. He just finished his fifteenth season as
a coach with the Knights, which resulted in a second State
Championship. His coaching duties include the Knights
and Rovers, Kickers and Holders, and is the Special Teams
Coordinator. Kevin has been involved with every game the
Knights have played, either as a player or as a coach. He
earned a B.S. in Physical Education: Sports Management
from Eastern Kentucky University. He is currently teaching
Health at Lexington Catholic.
Kevin is also an assistant coach and the Special Teams
Coordinator for the Lexington Horsemen of the Arena
Football League 2. Last year, the Horsemen made it to the
National Championship game before losing to Sioux Falls.
