1. William Barber-1. He was born 1765 in Virginia [1]. He died 1828 in Henry County, Georgia.

Parents were George and Margaret Watkins Barber. Proved 2009. See Analysis of Evidence for
DAR Application of Joanne Mobley Phillips.
In 1800, William Barber was in the land records of Hancock Co, GA. I have been unable to locate a
marriage record or any information on his wife's name. William Barber was in the Lexington Township
of Oglethorpe Co in the 1820 census. There was one male 45 &up, one female 45 & up, one male 10
& under and one female 10 & under listed in this census. This would mean that both William and his
wife were born in 1775 or before and that both died after 1820. I do not know who the young children
were - - whether their children or the children of a deceased child.
Generation 2
2. Polly Barber-2 (William Barber-1). She was born Bef. 1800 in Oglethorpe Co, Georgia. She died
Bef. 1847 in Henry County, Georgia.

General Notes:
Polly was probably born before 1800. She and Ezekiel were married in Nov 1816. I have assumed
she was at least 16 at the time of marriage. Polly was in the 1840 census in Henry Co, GA. Their
last child, Jesse, was b. 1844. Ezekiel married Mary Mears in August 1847 and their first child was
b. 1849. This puts Polly's death between 1844 and 1847, possibly she died in childbirth when Jesse
was born.
Ezekial Griffin is the son of Edmond Griffin and Nancy Gillham. He was born on 16 Aug 1794 in
Oglethorpe County, Georgia[2]. He died Oct 1866 in Paulding County, Georgia[3, 4].

General Notes:
Ezekial Griffin was born about 1794 from census. Among the effects of Bessie Griffin Mitchell was a
photograph of an elderly gentleman which was labeled Ezekial Griffin. Ezekial Griffin was not in the
1830 census for Henry County. If William's obituary has the correct information, this family would
have arrived in Henry County about 1832. If Robert and Edmund's were correct, the family would
have been in Henry County by 1826. Also among Bessie's effects was a subscription renewal notice
for Farm and Home with the following notes on it: "Monday, October 28, 1901, William Griffin, age
82, September 1901; Edmond Griffin, age 80, July 1901; Robert Griffin, age 75, April 1901; Thomas
Griffin, age 65, August 1901. All ate dinner at the house of Rbt. Griffin, Oct. 28, 1901." On the
reverse of this form were the following notes: "William Griffin died January 26, 1904. Tellie Barfield
and Will McKinzie married June 1902. Bessie Griffin, Sunny Side, Spalding County, Georgia. Nina
Barfield and Will Taylor, Nov. 1902. Aug. 16, 1901 age 107 years, 1794 (Ezekial Griffin was born
about 1794-5 according to census records). E. Griffin died Apr. 10, 1905. (This was Edmond,
Ezekial's son.)"
Paulding County records p. 76 show that Thomas Griffin, Joseph Ragsdale and John Dinison were
named administrators of "Ezekial Griffin late of said county deceased died intestate ..." This was
recorded Oct 13, 1866.
Paulding County records, p.120 show Mary A Griffin appointed guardian of Henry, Susan and Ave
Griffin, recorded Feb 22, 1868.
Ezekial Griffin and Polly Barber. They were married on 28 Nov 1816 in Oglethorpe County,
Georgia[5]. They had 11 children.

John P. Starr died JUN 1909. I know - - from family tradition and
possibly a letter written by Harry Starr dated mid-1920s - - that Mary A.
Tucker was still alive three months after this date. A bit of background
first. When Harry (only child of M. A. Griffin) was 9, John P. married a
16 year old girl; needless to say, they didn't get along too well. Harry
spent lots of time with the TUCKERs growing up which is understandable. The
story goes that Mary was in the STARR home about three months of J.P's death
and saw a letter from Harry addressed to "Mr. & Mrs", but dated on a few days
earlier. She insisted they inform him of his father's death/ wrote the letter herself.

All of the following information is from Cliff Griffin: "Aunt" Molly, Cousin Molly, or Granny Griffin.
She was always available to assist neighbors, friends or strangers. Her daddy was a Methodist
Preacher, her uncle was a Methodist preacher. Needless to say, she loved the Methodist Church
and Pomona Methodist in particular. The preachers often spent Saturday night at her house, and
"after preaching" Sunday dinner.
She was married by her father, who was a Methodist minister.
Medical Information: She broke her hip when she was 80+ years old, never went to the hospital.
Went to bed, made a splint and let God do the healing. She walked again.
