Britain is, as I think, one of the best holiday destinations in Europe and perhaps in the world. And
there are many reasons for it to be so. Its warm climate, fascinating sights, ancient buildings and of
course its people make it absolutely unique and interesting to visit.
So as I said the weather is warm and, if to be right, soft in Britain throughout the year, though that
doesn’t mean that you can always walk in shorts and shirt there, but you don’t need to wear a lot of
clothes in winter, and in summer you don’t have to hide in the shadow, because of the boiling hot
weather, instead it is just warm, but not hot during summer, and in winter you will hardly see snow in
Britain only about Christmas. So I think that the best time for visiting this fantastic country is summer,
when you can swim in the sea and lakes and enjoy walking in the streets of different towns with their
green trees and flowers.
UK people are making their country much more friendly and interesting for tourists. There are
many nations in the UK, so it is impossible to make the common image of the people living there. But it
is easy to say what could be imagined by saying such simple words as “Scotch” – skirt; “Irish” – red
hair; and “Englishmen”- smoking jacket. However Britain is not big, but each nation has its own
traditions, qualities and common characters. Scotch tend to be calm and tall, Irish are very fast and like
to have a lot of children, and Englishmen are much more difficult to describe, though maybe it is right to
say, that they are as all of us, because now there are not too many pure Englishmen, so maybe there will
be just only the name of this nation soon, but not the essence. Though you can say one thing about all
people in Britain – they are all friendly, and that it is always interesting to have a dialogue with them.
And of course Britain is also known for its food and drinks, maybe not as much as for its people
and sights, but in the culinary world its food and famous traditional Irish bear are still well known and
could be eaten and drunk in many countries all over the world. You can eat a lot of different food from
traditional British to exotic meals in restaurants or cafes which could be found everywhere. Also don’t
forget to visit KFC as there are not such fast food cafes with so tasty trademark meal as “fish and chips”
in our country. That is just not simple fast food that is something much greater and of course tastier. But
for people who like something more interesting to taste is better to go to restaurant. Of course the more
interesting and difficult way of eating could be chosen, that way is to go to Harrods or to the local
markets where could be found fresh and tasty food of which everything could be made, but there is only
one or maybe two barriers that are appearing this way – your imagination and talent of cooking, and
nothing more could stop you except… except money!
Of course Britain is well known for it is people, food and drinks, but it is also famous for its sights,
which are the main aim of maybe all journeys. And if you like to go sightseeing, you can just stay in this
country for ever to see everything it has to show you. In London you can visit St Paul’s Cathedral,
Trafalgar square, Big Ben, Buckingham palace, Westminster Abbey, Harrods, Tower, Parliament and
lots more… It is as impossible not to forget about some sights in London and in whole Britain, as it is
impossible to visit them during a week, not saying about one or two days. Then such places as
Stonehenge, Loh Ness Lake and I don’t know what else should not be missed. And being in London also
visit Oxford street that is famous for its shops, and if you do this you will have a day full of fun and
surprises while going shopping. And surely if you are a football fan you shouldn’t just miss the chance
of watching England football match on the stadium. I think that there is just one more thing that is
making Britain more interesting, that thing is its nature. Everyone could enjoy walking in the lands of
Scotland, Ireland and England wondering how different it is all around in such a little country. There are
still such places in Britain where you can hardly find any people around, feeling yourself absolutely free
and happy.
The holiday should be booked very carefully as it is making us very sad when we remember about
the ceremonies and pageantries of the country where we go, when nothing could be changed. And it
makes us sad a lot more when it happens with us in England as it has a lot of ceremonies. All British
ceremonies and pageantries are bright and interesting to watch. The greatest ceremony in Britain and
perhaps in the world is “Trooping the color”. Then there are also such annual ceremonies and
pageantries as “Lord’s Mayors show” and “Remembrance Day”. But if what I said earlier happens to
you, don’t be sad as there are many daily ceremonies in Britain such as “Ceremony of the Keys”,
“Changing the Guard” and “Mounting the Guard”!
Britain should be visited by everyone, and all of us will find in it something, that will be dear to
our heart. And also the memories of that journey will stay with people, who have visited Britain for all
their lives. In everyone, who visited this country can be seen changes, and every man after going there
will become closer to its people, traditions and will change for the better.
