Winter Weather Preparedness
AOPA Gets You Ready
Each season of the year brings flying challenges,
but winter seems to top the list! We would like
to draw your attention to a brief course AOPA is
offering on their web site about winter flying and
encourage you to take the 45-60 minutes to
refresh your winter flying knowledge.
You do not need to be a member of AOPA to take this very
informative course at www.aopa.org/training. The course is
called, Weather Wise: Icing & Precipitation.
AFC Volunteer Pilot Conference Calls
We want to hear from you!
Open Forum Pilot Calls provide an opportunity
for seasoned volunteers to talk with staff and
other pilots about shared experiences,

Calls offer new volunteers an introduction to AFC staff,
procedures and policies. Please consider joining us!
New AFC Volunteer Pilots must participate in one
Orientation Call. Current AFC Volunteer pilots are
encouraged to join an orientation call to talk with new
volunteers. We request that ALL AFC VOLUNTEER PILOTS
participate in an Open Forum Call at least once a year.

Safety Stand Down Update
Results to be released soon
Watch your email in-boxes in early
March for a communication regarding
the results of the AFC Safety Stand
Down and the action plan your Board of
Trustees has approved. Much time and energy have gone
into this inclusive and collaborative process. Although, the
safety discussion was prompted by the fatal accidents of
last summer, it has been an appropriate and productive
review of the entire organization's policies and procedures.
The many comments you have voiced have all been taken
into consideration. Thank you for your continued dedication
and helpful input during this important phase in Angel Flight
Central's history.
A special thanks to the AFC Board of Trustees Officers,
Members and Wing Leaders for giving so generously of their
time to complete this difficult, yet necessary project.

AFC Board Member and Volunteer Pilot Bill Goedken has
asked us to extend an invitation to all AFC pilots to join him
for a FREE B-B-Q Lunch in the Winter! He and Angel Flight
West's Colorado Wing Leader Walter Berger along with Dan
Bryant of TAC Air in Englewood, CO are hosting a
collaborative fly-in to thank volunteers for making "angel
flights" for people in need possible. You are encouraged to
bring along a prospective new volunteer to give them an
opportunity to visit with current volunteers.
