Creating a drop down menu in Fireworks
Create 5 buttons all next to each other like the picture below. Convert all your
buttons to symbols (Right click, convert to symbol, give it a name and click button)
Step 1: Click on the first button that you want to
have a drop down menu. In this case the
second button.
Step 2: Select Modify, Pop up menu and Add
pop up menu,
Step 3: in the first menu that appears you
must list what you want to appear in your
drop down menu.
Step 4: Select Next.
Step 5: Select
Appearance, and
choose the size, colour
and font of the text on
your drop down menu.
Up State = when the
mouse is not on the
menu.
Over State = when the
mouse is over the
menu.
Step 6: Select Next.
Step 7: Click Advanced. You can change some of the options here if you wish.
Step 8: Select Next.
Step 9: Experiment with the positioning of your menu using the x and y
coordinates.
X = 120 and Y = 0 seems to work
well.
Step 10: Select Done.
Step 11: Repeat steps 1- 10 with the other two buttons that you want to have
drop down menus on.
Step 12: Save your work.
Step 13: Select Export.
Step 14: Name it menu bar and make sure everything is selected as shown below.
Step 15:
Open
Macromedia
Dreamweave
r and select
New HTML
.
Step 16: Select Insert,
image objects and
fireworks HTML.
Step 17: Select Browse and then find the file you have just exported from HTML.
Step 18: Select Ok.
Step 19: When the next
dialogue box appears select ok
and save your dreamweaver file
as navigation.
Step 20:
Press F12
to test
your drop
down
menu.
