  India is honored to become the host nation of the 2011 Asia-Pacific Quality Network Conference

  and Annual General Meeting held in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka, from March 2 to 4 2011

  The Conference is being hosted by The National Assessment and Accreditation Council

  This document will provide you with all the information you need to make your stay

  in Bangalore memorable. Please read this document carefully.

  The Local Organizing Committee has sent the official invitation letter to delegates, on
  request, who have registered to participate in the Conference. All delegates will be given
  Participation Certificate on at Conference venue

  The information regarding the 2011 APQN Conference & AGM can be found on our
  website at which will be updated regularly. Please consult
  program on website for updates. Please note that day 3 i.e. March 4 is only for APQN
  members. So unless you want to stay back for workshop for prospective members on 4th
  March or join for a Tour to NAAC including brief site seeing, you can plan your own tour
  for 4th March.


  Registration for the conference closed on 15th February 2011. Those Foreign delegates who
  couldn’t pay through Wire Transfer, can pay upon arrival in India to the Organizing Committee
  at the registration desk in the morning of 2 March 2011. Please note that amount equivalent
  to fees applicable in USD has to be paid in Indian rupees by cash only.

  All participants to the Conference have to pay a registration fee unless otherwise notified.
  The registration desk of the workshop will be located just outside the Conference Hall of
  Matthan Hotel. The staff of the LOC and the hotel receptionist will guide you to the
  Conference Hall. You can also see many signs to the Conference Hall in the hotel. You can
  get currency exchange at Airport or Hotel Matthan.
  Registration will be at 8:00 o’clock in the morning of Wednesday 2 March 2011.

  There are 3 types of counters for categories namely-
  1. Indian delegates, 2. Foreign delegates and 3. NAAC/ APQN invitees.
  Name badges will be issued at registration. Please wear your name badge at all times
  during the Conference for ease of identification.

6. Insurance

    It is recommended that delegates take up suitable travel and medical insurance in
    their own countries. The Organizing Committee will not be responsible for any
    medical expenses incurred by the delegates during their participation at the

Bangalore has got it's newest International airport - BIAL (Bangalore International Airport
Ltd). This is located 35 kms approximately from the city and is about 32 Kms from our
conference venue - Bangalore Palace Grounds.
The city of Bangalore is well connected by Air (almost all domestic airlines and most of the
international airlines operate in and out of Bangalore),and by Road .

Those coming by train or bus are advised to take pre-paid auto or taxi from the station.

About Bangalore………..

Bangalore is the capital of Karnataka state, one of the fastest growing cosmopolitan cities of
Asia. Bangalore is very well known as the "silicon city" of India has come a long way since
it's establishment as Benda Kalooru.

According to legend Bangalore got its name from King Veera Ballala of Hoysala King of
Vijayanagara. Once he had lost his way in the forest and being hungry and tired, an old lady
offered him baked beans (known as 'Benda Kalu' in Kannada). In gratitude for the old lady
and findling this humble meal very tasty, the king named the place "Benda Kalu Ooru"
which meant the place of baked beans.

It was later in 1537, Kempe Gowda developed Bangalore into a modern city of which
recorded history exists. Over the years, Bangalore is fondly known by various names such as
"The Garden City", "Pensioners Paradise", "Pub City", "Silicon City", etc. Bangalore will be
now renamed as Bengaluru.

Bangalore is home to some of the best industries, educational institutions, health care and
has world class facilities in Software and Bio Technology companies. Bangalore's growth
has been unstoppable, because of the unique quality of its people to accept change and
transform it into their lives. Its salubrious climate - the finest in India, friendly people, lush
green gardens and highly educated population have made it the hub of information
technology industry. Bangalore has in the past hosted innumerable events, conferences and
trade shows.

ISKCON temple and other old historical temples are a sheer delight to visit. The wildlife
sanctuary - Bannerghatta National Park a mere 20 kms away is a popular draw.

The average temperature in Bangalore during March varies from a 18 to 30 degree celsius.
The weather is very pleasant and light warm clothing will be fine in the evenings. It could
be warm in day time as summer is coming closer. Be prepared for occasional shower.

Climatic Seasons……..

There are four main seasons that are characterized by different climatic conditions. Locates
at an altitude of 920m(3,021 ft.), Bangalore boasts Delightful weather throughout the year.
The average temperature in the warmest month of April registers to 27.1degree centigrade
while in the coldest month of January, it is 20.48 degree centigrade. Evenings are cool and
pleasant throughout the year.
