Almonds in salmonella scare
PARAMOUNT, California's largest almond processor and seller, is recalling five million lbs (2 268
tonnes) of raw almonds following a food poisoning scare. Paramount says that the nuts may be
contaminated with salmonella. The USA's Food and Drug Administration has received seven
reports of food poisoning in the states of Alaska, Arizona, Orgeon, Washington and Utah.
The recall covers 2.7 million packs of raw almonds sold under the Kirkland Signature, Sunkist
and Trader Joe's brands.
