Discussion:
District Improvement Plan – Dr. Mary L. Lamping & Ms. Judy Green (Handouts: New
District Improvement Plan with Rising Star)
o Ms. Green shared the legal requirements of NCLB in relation to corrective action.
o Dr. Lamping reviewed the new Rising Star process, including the identification of
the District Leadership Team, a review of the District Indicators, the planning
process, and the four indicators selected by the team to be the priority of the
district’s focus.

Start on Time Update – Ms. Angela Fink
o Ms. Fink provided data from the first quarter.
Average number of tardies per month, week and day has decreased.
Average daily attendance increased from 88.77% to 92.84%.
No Tardy Parties (students who have not received any tardies)

Reported Tardies for September through November was reviewed
o Also reviewed were the barriers and drain on resources that the high school has
experienced.
Curriculum Review and Update (Handout: Ensuring a Curriculum that Develops College
Readiness Skills for All Students; The Curriculum-Instruction-Assessment Triad;
Assessment Data; Project CRISS Reference Guide for Teachers)
o Mr. Bain provided references on best practices impacting student achievement.

o Data-Based Curriculum Design – Ms. Carla Christopher
Outlined the curriculum development that has taken place in the math
department.

Actual Teacher Lessons – Karen Frank
o Assessing Reading in Social Studies Courses – Mr. Mike Berrie
Mr. Berrie reviewed the redesign and implementation process that
occurred.
Work with the Pathways group to design assessment items.
Re-design four courses with alignment to skills found in College
Readiness Standards.
Provide new resources for all re-designed classes.
Implement interim assessments that measure student growth.
