“WAKE UP! WAKE UP! Today’s the day we
move!’’ my little twin sisters Ashley and Amanda
yelled in my ear. I unzipped my sleeping bag as slow
as a ninety-year-old snail. Except for our toys all of
our stuff was at the new house, so we all had slept in
our sleeping bags. I peeled off my smart cookie
pajamas, and put on my Think Green shirt with blue
jean shorts.
“ Allie! Get down here!” my mom yelled. I
sulked down the stairs. I didn’t want to move to our
new house. It was an old black house in the middle of
nowhere. When I reached the bottom of the steps, my
mom angrily said, “Get in the van.” I put a leash on
my dog, Bernie, and got in the car. Bernie, my best
friend and companion was a two-year-old Saint
Bernard. I just loved him to death.
Two hours later, we reached our new house. The
bone white porch paint was peeling and most of the
rails were split like scraggily teeth. The house was a
charcoal black with tinted raspberry windows. The
curtains were white and raggedy. When I got out of
the car holding onto Bernie’s leash, a cold wind blew
my soft, silky hair into my face and sent a chill down
my back. My sisters leaped out onto the yellow grass
and started doing cartwheels and flips. I walked up
the creaky steps and turned the doorknob and crept
inside.
I slowly walked up the never-ending spiral
staircase, to my already unpacked room. I closed the
jet-black door behind me, took off Bernie’s leash,
and flopped onto my canopy bed. The house was
depressing and scary with all the dark colors.
“Allie! Allie!” my sisters said as they bounded
into the room, “Don’t you just love the new
house?”
“No,” I replied with a cold voice.
“Why not?” Amanda asked.
“Because I have to share a room with you
two.” I replied getting annoyed.
“Well, mom said it’s time to go to bed,”
Ashley said. I quickly changed into my girls night
pj’s and hopped into bed.
“Good night, don’t let the bed bugs bite!” I
teased my sisters. There were squeals from the two
before I snatched my book.
One hour later, I was reading my book when I
heard a creepy voice say, “What are you doing in
my house? Who are you? GET OUT!” I bolted over
to the light switch and flipped it on.
”Hey!” a sleepy Amanda said.
Ashley cried, “ Why did you do that?”
“ I heard a v-voice. Didn’t y-you h-h-hear it?” I
replied in a shaky voice. Then, I ran to my mom’s
room and bursted through the door.
“What’s wrong Allie?” my mom asked me.
“I heard a voice.” I replied.
“What did it say?” my mom asked me.
“ It a-asked me who I w-was, w-why I’m here
and told me to get out,” I said my voice still shaking.
“ It was probably your sisters talking in their
sleep. Go back to bed,” my mom said soothingly.
When I was walking towards my room, I heard
the voice again. It was laughing this time though.
“ Silly little girl, your mommy can’t protect you from
me,” it growled. I sprinted to my bedroom and
slammed the door shut. I felt my heart. I was sure it was
beating 500 times a minute. When I shut my eyes I realized
the house was haunted.
The next night, when I got in bed ,I heard something
scraping across the walls. I also heard wolves howling at
the milky white moon.
Then, the ghost said, “ I gave you a day and you
didn’t even try to convince your mom to leave! You have
made a bad choice! Very bad things are coming your way!”
My sisters screamed liked hyenas. I would have to but my
heart was pounding in my chest so hard I couldn’t. I leaped
out of bed. I didn’t want to lie down it didn’t feel safe.
Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my arm. I flipped the light
on and stared at a small glistening cut on my arm.
” MOM!” I yelled. A few seconds later, my mom
busted through the door.
“What’s wrong!” she asked in a worried voice.
“I am bleeding and the house is haunted! The ghost
did this to me. She also said,’ very bad things are coming
your way!” I wailed. My mom put wrap on my arm and
called the police. She made an arrangement for them to
come the next day and check everything out.
The next day when I woke up, I saw that Bernie was
growling at something. He looked like he was going to
attack the door. When I walked over to him I felt an icy
cold chill go down my spine. My arm immediately started
to sting. I saw an almost see through face in the mirror! The
ghost was right in front of me! I screamed and the ghost
just laughed. Then, Bernie let out a yip and fell to the floor.
I helped him over to his bed and heard, DING DONG
DING! It was the doorbell.
I dashed down the ancient spiral staircase. When I
reached the end, I saw some people with a jam-packed
suitcase. My mom told me that they would be making the
ghost go away as I told her about another ghost incident.
The people went around holding candles and saying
things like “ Leave this family alone,” and “Don’t come
back,”
When they were finished, the house seemed brighter
and warmer. It seemed like the windows weren’t tinted
anymore. I never saw, heard, or felt the ghost again.
