Illustrator editing cheat sheet
Use the selection tool to highlight the vertex or segment you want to adjust.
The handles (Illustrator calls them direction lines) appear and you can click the direction points
(black circles) and drag to alter the shape of the line.
The handle you are moving is connected to the handle on the other side of the vertex and it will
move as well. If you want to disconnect the handles, hold down the CTRL key and the selection
tool will turn into the convert direction tool. Once you move one of the handles, that vertex
will have disconnected handles. Use the pointer tool without CTRL to do further adjustments.
If you want to re-connect the handles, use the CTRL key again on the handles.
Some other useful key-combinations:
SPACEBAR = hand tool
CTRL - SPACEBAR = zoom-in
CTRL - ALT - SPACEBAR = zoom-out
