1. LIVE IN TRUTH SO YOU KNOW YOUR FAITH IS REAL
(V. 1-6)
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son
of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
I John 5:13
1) Sin is a Choice
“…I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody
does sin, we have one who speaks to the father in our
defense, Jesus Christ…” (V.1)
2) The Choice is Freedom or Bondage
“…If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.
Then you will know the truth and the truth shall set you
free.” John 8: 31-32
“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry
out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the
beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in
him…he is a liar and the father of lies.”
John 8: 44
2. LIVE IN LOVE SO YOUR WALK IS IN THE LIGHT
1) Walking in Darkness Leads to Blindness
“Whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks
around in the darkness; he does not know where he is going
because the darkness has blinded him.”
(V. 11)
2) Walking in Love Leads to Freedom
“Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is
nothing in him to make him stumble.” (V. 10)
Jesus said to his disciples: “A new command I give you:
Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love
one another. By this all men will know that you are my
disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34
