Planning and Development Service.
Introduction
Ro-ràidh
This programme provides basic information to highlight many events such as guided
walks, archaeology trails, storytelling, wildlife talks and family events for all interests and
levels of fitness.
It aims to help raise awareness and encourage appreciation of the scenery, wildlife and
heritage of the Highlands.
For all walks and events it is important that you come prepared for the vagaries of our
Scottish climate. Please pay special attention to the key as this gives good advice on the
suitability of all events and walks.
It is advisable to contact the Countryside Rangers or person organising the event PRIOR
to attending as this programme may change due to adverse weather or other unforseen
circumstances.
If you require further information please contact the relevant person organising the
event(s) you are interested in.
See contact page for details.

Simple Pleasures Easily Found in the Highlands
The great thing about living in the Highlands is that nature is around every corner. There are many parks and
woodlands, riverside walks and miles of paths right on your doorstep even in city. Getting into the outdoors
needn’t be a big adventure with lots of planning or serious equipment. It’s true that the best things in life are
free with most of life’s simple pleasures costing absolutely nothing. How about skimming a few stones? Can
you do a hand stand or cartwheel in the park? What about making a daisy chain or collecting fallen leaves to
make a picture? Splashing in puddles or gazing at the night sky ? You can enjoy the outdoors whatever the
time of year, whatever the weather. For more inspiration go to www.snh.gov.uk/simplepleasures or search
