o The images subfolder contains the image files used for graphics in Vista diagrams.
Vista diagrams support only the following file types:
o bitmap (.bmp)
o metafile (.wmf)
o enhanced metafiles (.emf)
o audiovisual interleaf (.avi)
o The nd subfolder contains node diagrams created for viewing ION® devices and
ION® software nodes in Designer. Node diagrams exist in the form of .cfg files,
and are dynamically created and modified when changes are made to specific
ION® nodes using the Designer programming interface.
o The ud subfolder contains all user diagrams used by Vista for displaying and
analysing ION® Enterprise system information.

In the right pane, click the WMF_symbols subfolder to display its contents, as shown in
the example below.
The WMF_symbols subfolder contains graphics for many one-line symbols such as
breakers and transformers. These graphics are often used to build custom one-line
diagrams in Vista.
The image files contained in the WMF_symbols subfolder are in Windows meta file
(.wmf) format. Bitmap versions of these same images are located in the bmp_versions
subfolder in the WMF_symbols subfolder.
QUESTIONS:
Circle one:
Which graphic file type would you use? .wmf .bmp
For the same one-line symbol, which file
type is the larger file? .wmf .bmp
Which graphic file type is pixel-based? .wmf .bmp
Which graphic file type is vector-based? .wmf .bmp

In the left pane, click the – symbol beside the images subfolder to collapse it. Then click
the ud subfolder to display its contents in the right pane, as shown below.
The ud subfolder contains the following three subfolders:
o The default subfolder contains default diagrams for all ACM and ION® devices,
including Siemens branded ION® devices. This folder contains many different
diagram files, which are used by Vista to display default views for the various
devices typically found in ION® Enterprise systems.
o The diagnostic subfolder contains special diagrams for several different ION®
models. These diagrams may be used remotely to check and modify ION® device
configuration using Vista.
o The library subfolder contains a single demonstration diagram titled
wmf_oneline_symbols. This diagram demonstrates the oneline symbols that are
available in Vista; actual .bmp and .wmf graphics for the oneline symbols are found

The Generate Network Diagram action triggers Vista to read the ION_Network
database and create a set of homepage-like Vista diagrams based on the Groups and
Devices that exist in the ION® Enterprise system. The title of the resulting diagram is
displayed in square brackets in the blue title bar at the top of the Vista window, as
shown in the following example.

QUESTION:
Which file now appears in the ud subfolder
that was not there previously? ___________________________
Network.dgm is created automatically by Vista, and contains a set of nested diagrams
based on the Group and Device hierarchy defined in the ION_Network database. This
results in:
o One Group-level diagram displaying all Groups of devices
o For each Group, a Device-level diagram displaying all Devices belonging to that
Group
In total, the network.dgm file for an ION® Enterprise system made up of N Groups
contains N+1 diagrams.
Using Vista, navigate the set of default diagrams for each device in the ION®
Enterprise system and confirm that all devices are communicating effectively.
QUESTIONS:
At present, how many Vista diagrams are contained in
the network.dgm file for the ION® Enterprise system? ___________________________
At present, how many meter default diagrams in the
ION® Enterprise system are linked to Vista? ___________________________
