Spn 305 - Spanish Speaking Texas May 5-20, 2001
Travel Tips:
Airline Tickets:
Don’t lose your tickets; you can’t get home without them!
Luggage:
Because we are traveling by van and don't want to get crampted, luggage limits are one check-in bag per person with dimensions
not to exceed 30"x18"x10"; and, also, one hand-carried bag with dimensions not to exceed 17"x14"x8".
Remove all previous airline tags from your luggage; otherwise, your luggage may travel to your previous destination!
Each bag must be identified with a luggage tag. For personal security reasons, you may wish to use an office or business address,
rather than your residence address, on your luggage tags. Luggage tags will be provided at the airline ticket counter if your bags
are untagged at check-in.
Lock your bag before checking it in with the airline.
If you can’t afford to lose it, do not pack it in your checked luggage; medicine, glasses, money, and valuables should be packed in
your carry-on bag.
Medical:
Take your medical insurance card and a claims form with you for use in case of an illness or injury.
Be certain that you have sufficient prescription medicine to cover the duration of your travel.
Take a medical identification card that includes persons to contact in the event of an emergency, specific medical needs, allergies,
blood type, and your doctor’s name, address, and telephone number.
Take a second set of eye-glasses, if you have one; a glasses repair kit; a safety-strap; and, a copy of your lens prescription.
Telephone:
Take a telephone credit card, or pre-paid phone card, to use for long-distance calls. Lobby pay-phones are usually less-expensive
than hotel-room phones.
My cell phone number which will be on me at all times - 309-262-3486
Credit Cards:
Use credit cards and/or traveler’s checks as much as possible. Leave unneeded credit cards (department stores, etc.) at home.
Make a photocopy of your credit cards to facilitate reporting lost or stolen cards; carry the copy separate from the credit cards.
Security:
Keep valuables out of sight, even in your hotel room.
Personal Safety:
Never go out alone; travel in groups when possible; but always with at least one other person.
Tipping:
For tipping, $1/bag is appropriate for airport skycaps and hotel bellmen; 15% for taxi drivers; and, 15-20% for restaurant servers.
Meals:
The only meals covered by the program cost are welcome and goodbye dinners. Continental breakfasts are included in hotel
service.
Hotels:
The cost of using telephone, pay-for-view movies, snacks and drinks, and room-service, are not included in the program price. If
you use these services, please pay at the front desk of each Hotel before check-out.
Mexico:
You must have proofssion to travel in Mexico.
