Spelling
Spelling begins next week. The list of spelling
words and word wall words are on the front of this
page. I will send the spelling list home every Friday for
the following week. Please keep the list in a
convenient spot for you and your child to find.
The spelling list consists of words from different
chunks. This week’s chunks are at and an. Please
have your child learn that the letters –at say the sound
“at” and the letters –an say the sound “an.” Once they
know the spelling for each sound, he or she will be able
to make the words listed below the chunks at the top.
Practice making those words and reciting them. We
will have a pretest on Wednesday and a final test on
Friday. On the test, there will be 5 –at words, 5 –an
words, and the 5 word wall words that we’ve been
learning to read.
Please take a little time this weekend to start
getting familiar with the process that I described above.
