A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Herman
Wayne Caudill.
WHEREAS, Herman Wayne Caudill was a founding member and director of the
Kentucky Houndsmen Society, which was developed in 1986 to address the threats to
traditional hunting posed by organized anti-hunting and anti-gun groups; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Caudill served the Kentucky Houndsmen Society as its president
and legislative liaison for several years, advancing the interests of houndsmen and hunters
across the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Caudill was influential in passing legislation to exempt hunting
activities involving canines from the Commonwealth's animal cruelty laws, laws to create
Kentucky's concealed carry statutes, and preserve open areas among western Kentucky's
Wildlife Management Areas; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Caudill was a unifying force for all sportsmen, including hunters
of all species, as they sought to protect their rights against the encroachment of modern
dangers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Caudill was a loving family man. With his wife, Penny Turner
Caudill, he raised six children, Kimberly Cheryl Caudill, Lydia Arlena Caudill, Kevin
Wayne Caudill, Christopher Reid Turner Caudill, Melissa Jopes, and Tina Swisher; and
three grandchildren, Jacoby, Joseph, and Trace. He was also the loving brother of
Charlene Reed and Gerri Lynn Ross, as well as the dutiful son of Herman Caudill and the
late Lydia Caudill; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Caudill departed this earthly life on March 21, 2008, and an entire
community joins his family and friends in mourning for his loss;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of
Kentucky:
Section 1. The Senate expresses its sincerest sympathy and condolences to the

family, friends, and community of Herman Wayne Caudill.
Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and
honor of Herman Wayne Caudill.
Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to Penny Turner Caudill, 1671 Foxhaven Drive, Richmond, Kentucky 40475.
