Family, Neighborhood and Society with the Gospel so that people’s lives are filled with Hope.
A Letter from Father Page 2 June 20, 2010

                        Remembering our Past…
                                            and Celebrating our Presence!
In 1917, our Founder, Blessed Joseph Allamano, made this prediction: “One day,
when you are more numerous, you will go to America. What is essential is that
you are missionaries and also in America, you will work for the same missionary
                      goal.”
This prediction of our Founder became a reality after the Second World War, when in 1947, the first
Consolata Missionaries arrived in North America.
The arrival of the Consolata Missionaries in North America was an answer to the call of Jesus, “Go,
therefore, and make disciples of all nations…” (Mt 28:19), and the invitation of Our Lady of Consolata,
“They will announce my glory to the nations.”
  In the United States, the Consolata Missionaries planted their roots in Sacramento, CA, ; Batavia, NY;
Washington, D.C.; Pittsburgh, PA; Buffalo, NY; Somerset, NJ; Milford, CT; Charlotte, NC; Grand Rap-
ids, MI; and Brownsville, TX. In 1992, Fr. Reno Aiardi was selected to be the Mission Director of the
Diocese of San Bernardino, CA. In 1994, Fr. Gill Allard and Fr. Luigi Inverardi arrived in San Bernar-
dino to do pastoral work and Mission Promotion at Our Lady of the Rosary. Two years later, Fr. Louis
Abdoo replaced Fr. Gill Allard as Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of the Rosary. In 1997, Fr. Louis Abdoo
was chosen to begin a Consolata Presence in the Diocese of Orange at St. Boniface in Anaheim as Pa-
rochial Vicar. On the same occasion, the other Consolatas moved from the Cathedral in San Bernar-
dino to St. Francis de Sales in Riverside. Fr. Vincent Salemi and Fr. Luigi Inverardi were assigned as
Parish Administrator and Parochial Vicar and Fr. Reno Aiardi continued as Mission Director, residing at
St. Francis de Sales. In 1998, Fr. Vincent returned to Africa and Fr. Reno Aiardi became the Parish Ad-
ministrator, with Fr. Luigi Inverardi and Fr. John Saffirio Parochial Vicars.
In 2000, Fr. Robert Viscardi became the new Parish Administrator of St. Francis de Sales and Fr. Louis
Abdoo the Parochial Vicar. Fr. Luigi Inverardi went to Venezuela and Fr. Reno Aiardi continued full time
at the Mission Office. Fr. John Saffirio remained serving in Mission Promotion. In 2002, Fr. Robert Vis-
cardi became the new Priest minister of St. Adelaide in Highland and Fr. John continued in Mission Pro-
motion for the Consolata. At the same time, Fr. Reno Aiardi resumed the role of Parish Administrator at
St. Francis and Fr. Louis Abdoo continued as Parochial Vicar. On October 4, 2003, Fr. Robert Viscardi
transferred his residence permanently to the Heavenly Kingdom and Fr. John Saffirio moved back to
Somerset, NJ. In 2006, Fr. Leonard De Pasquale arrived in San Bernardino to be the new Parish Ad-
ministrator at St. Bernardine Parish in San Bernardino, while residing at St. Francis de Sales.
In Canada, the Consolata Missionaries took solid roots in Montreal, Quebec and Toronto. In the U.S.
and Canada, the Consolatas are a small group with a vast program of work and activities: pastoral
work, vocation programs, formation and specialization of priests and lay missioners, missionary aware-
ness at different levels, apostolic activities and great assistance to our missions in Africa, South Amer-
  ica and Asia.
The dream of Blessed Joseph Allamano to send his missionaries to North America has been realized.
The number of North American-born members may be small compared to some of the other nationali-
ties in the Society, but together, much good has been done for the good of the local and global church.
In thanksgiving to God during this special year of grace, we are grateful to the North American Church
and all our friends and benefactors as we celebrate the Feast of Our Patroness, OUR LADY OF
  CONSOLATA.

  In Christ’s Love,
