Typical Implementation Scenario
This practice involves constructing, installing, maintaining, and monitoring artificial wildlife structures to provide nesting/roosting cover. It is applied on sites where a
habitat evaluation has revealed that nesting or roosting cover is a limiting factor for the targeted wildlife species and where natural recovery of those habitat elements
is either unlikely or will take many years. Simple nesting/roosting structures include simple songbird houses, bat houses (single-chambered), or bee boxes that are
typically secured to an existing feature (barn, tree, post, etc.) and do not require installation of an additional support structure.
Structures are typically built/installed according to designs and specifications contained in: “Artificial Nesting Structures” (NRCS Tech. Note 190-23), “Bats” (NRCS
Tech. Note 190-4), bat house designs from Bat Conservation International, "Farming for Bees: Guidelines for Providing Native Bee Habitat on Farms" (The Xerces
Society), "Nests for Native Bees" (The Xerces Society).

Typical Implementation Scenario
This practice involves constructing, installing, maintaining, and monitoring artificial wildlife structures to provide perching fea
where a habitat evaluation has revealed that perching features are a limiting factor for raptors and where natural recovery o
either unlikely or will take many years. This practice should only be used where it is necessary to attract raptors to aid in re
rodents; this may not be used on rangeland or other natural settings due to potential detrimental impacts on prey species.
Structures are typically built/installed according to designs and specifications contained in NRCS biology technical notes.

Typical Implementation Scenario
Markers are installed on wire fences to increase visibility and reduce mortality of wildlife, such as, sage grouse. Scenario is
where a known problem fence exists. White vinyl undersill trim strips are used to make "marking" strips that are hung on wir
mortality.

A structure designed and installed specifically for fish or wildlife.

Cost Data
Typical Implementation Scenario
This practice involves constructing, installing, maintaining, and monitoring basking structures to provide basking/loafing cov
where a habitat evaluation has revealed that basking/loafing cover is a limiting factor for turtles, amphibians, or other wetlan
of that habitat element is either unlikely or will take many years.
Basking structures usually consist of a large dead tree placed in a wetland/pond in direct sunlight. An ideal basking log will
the sun and submerged under water as a place for turtles and amphibians to hide if startled. Structures are anchored to red
