TUT academic appointed to the editorial team of a reputable marketing journal
Prof Neels van Heerden, Head of the Department of Marketing, Logistics and Sport
Management, at the Tshwane University of Technology has been appointed as a
member of the panel of editors of the African Journal of Marketing Management
(AJMM).
After examining Prof van Heerden’s resume, the editorial board of the publication
agreed that he met all requirements to be one of the editors.
“We will need your experience and expertise to move the journal to greater heights. We
expect AJMM to feature articles cutting across discoveries in all areas of Marketing
Management,” said Clement Onou, General Manager of Academic Journals.
Prof van Heerden’s responsibilities will include deciding if reviewed/revised manuscripts
are to be accepted, modified or rejected. He will also work with members of the editorial
board to promote the image and interest of the journal.
Commenting about his appointment to the panel of editors of the AJMM, Prof van
Heerden said it was an honour to represent TUT in this reputable publication.
“The African Journal of Marketing Management is a monthly publication that provides
rapid publication of articles in all areas of the field. The Journal welcomes the
submission of manuscripts that meet the general criteria of significance and scientific
excellence. Papers will be published approximately one month after acceptance. All
articles published in AJMM are peer-reviewed,” he added.
Congratulating Prof van Heerden on his appointment, Dr Prins Nevhutalu, Deputy Vice-
Chancellor: Research, Innovation and Partnerships at TUT, pointed out that the area of
marketing was critical for business development.
“It is a great recognition for a TUT staff member to be appointed as an editor for this
prestigious journal. TUT boasts three NRF rated researchers in the marketing field. This
is probably one of the strongest concentrations of marketing research expertise in South
Africa. Prof Van Heerden is currently an NRF C-rated researcher. Congratulations to
Prof Van Heerden for the recognition given to him both internationally and continentally.
You do TUT proud,” he said.
Prof van Heerden is an associate editor of the South African Journal of Economic and
Management Science. He also serves on the Editorial Board of the International Retail
and Marketing Review; Southern African Business Review, as well as Commercium
Journal. He is a peer reviewer of submissions for the following journals: African Journal
for Physical Health Education, Recreation and Dance; South African Journal of
Business Management; and Acta Commercii.
The African Journal of Marketing Management (AJMM) is owned and published by
Academic Journals. The mission of the AJMM is to significantly broaden the knowledge
base of its readers and to do so; the journal must concentrate on only those papers that
fall within its purview. The journal is headed by Editor-in-Chief, Editors, Associate Editor
and Editorial Board Members. The Editors and Editorial Board are appointed by the
Publication Committee of Academic Journals. Editors and Editorial Board members
serve a two-year term. Board members are chosen based on the journal’s need for
representation from a particular subject area, in conjunction with the individual’s
commitment to maintaining high journal standards, as illustrated in objective and prompt
reviews.
