Log Cabin Pillow Top
Materials:
1 skein Noro Iro or other bulky yarn (will make a 12” X 12” pillow top)
Size 10.5 US needles
To facilitate ease in picking up sts, slip the first st of each row pwise with yarn in front.
Unit A
Row: Cast on 6 sts
Rows 2 – 11: Knit all
Row 12: Bind off in knit. The last remaining st becomes the first st of the next section.
Turn the square 90 degrees to the right.
With RS facing, pick up and knit 1 st in the back loop across the edge 5 times. 1
Knit 11 rows to form another square.
Bind off in knit on Row 12. (RS)
Unit B
Turn 90 degrees to the right. Pick up 11 sts evenly across the edge. Knit 11 rows; bind off knitwise on the
12th row. Repeat this once more.
Unit C
Turn 90 degrees to the right. Pick up 17 sts evenly across the edge. Knit 11 rows; bind off knitwise on the
12th row. Repeat this once more.
Unit D
Turn 90 degrees to the right. Pick up 23 sts evenly across the edge. Knit 11 rows; bind off knitwise on the
12th row. Repeat this once more.
Unit F
Turn 90 degrees to the right. Pick up 29 sts evenly across the edge. Knit 11 rows; bind off knitwise on the
12th row. Repeat this once more.
Continue the pattern increasing by 6 sts every other rectangle until the block is the desired size.
This pattern also makes an excellent blanket or afghan.
