Paths of Glory Historical Variant
Here are the rules for the variant:
1) Incentives for the CP to fight aggressively in France and Belgium and not retreat to the
a) +1 replacement point for GE each turn if a CP controls at least six spaces in FR/BE.
Applicable only when CP is at TW.
b) -1 replacement point for GE if no CP units in France or Belgium.
c) U-Boats Unleashed can be played without the H-L Take Command pre-requisite. This
will help the attrition ratio against the British until Convoy is played.
2) Incentives for the CP to try for the Russian capitulation sequence.
a) Guns of August must be played for an event
b) The Tsar Takes Command; in addition to regular prerequisite add this one. It can be
played when the CP are at TW and control 2 Russian VP. CP player is not allowed to
carry TTC from LW to TW and instead the card must be reshuffled in with TW cards.
c) Fall of the Tsar can only be played when the CP war status and Russian city total
reaches a total of 18 (however minimum of at least 3 Russian VP’s required for play)
3) Incentives for the AP to bring the American units on the board.
a) +3 VP if neither of the American army reinforcement cards have been played as an
event by games end (armistice included). +1 if only 1 army is on the board
b) Zimmerman Telegram can only be played as an event when AP WS reaches 15
4) Limitation to CP strength in the N.E.
a) A limit of 3 non-TU CP corps may be operating in the NE at any given time with limit
of 1 non-TU CP corps per space (may stack with TU units)
b) The three Stoss cards require a GE army in the attacking force.
5) Limitation on CP reaction to Italian entry
a) Italy may not attack or be attacked until 1 full action after entry
6) Limitation on allied strength in the Balkans
a) Entrench card can only be played as event in France, Belgium or Germany
b) Italy is restricted to a maximum of one IT army tracing supply via Taranto or Salonika.
There is no limit to IT corps in the Balkans.
