The pool will be open for the regular schedule starting Saturday, June 11th 2011
weather permitting. Note: Children 5 years old and younger must be accompanied by an
adult or responsible babysitter. Only children 5 years old and younger may use the
wading pool and MUST be accompanied by an adult or responsible and dependable
teenage babysitter. Young non-swimmers may not be left un-chaperoned in the wading
pool area. There will NOT be a regular assigned lifeguard on duty in the wading pool
area. There will be no charge for adults who will not be using the adult pool.

The City of Byron went to a Flat Fee Schedule. There is no difference whether you are a
resident or non-resident. Everyone pays the same.

Family Swim Time Rules: The family swim hour is reserved for immediate family
members and their out-of-town guests. An adult member of the family must accompany
the family in order to be admitted.

Fourth of July Pool Schedule: The pool will be open from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on July
4th. No Family Swim that night.

Parking: There is NO PARKING or DROP OFF allowed in the Community Education
Center parking lot. Pool patrons can park along the street near the pool. There will be
regularly scheduled summer school taking place in the Community Education Center.
The parking lot is for participants and teachers of the summer school program only.
                           Swimming Lesson Registration Dates

LIMIT: No more than 10 registrations per person.
Registration for each session will be taken at BYRON CITY HALL on the dates listed
above. Registration will be from 7:00a.m. – 9:30a.m. on those dates. After the
registration day and time has passed please stop by the pool to register your child/ren.
Please have the provided registration form filled out completely to turn in during
registration. Additional forms are available on the city website. www.byronmn.com.

No phone registrations will be accepted. If you are unable to register on the assigned day,
registration will be accepted at the pool or city hall until that session of lessons has
started or the class is filled. Swimming classes may be cancelled due to lack of
participants. You will be notified if a class is cancelled.

Schedules are subject to change in the event that instructors are unavailable. Please call
the pool at 775.6916 if you have questions about lesson availability. Class offerings
might change due to staff availability. A minimum of 3 students is required for each
class.

ATTENTION: One-on-one 1/2 hour lessons are also offered for individuals seeking
assistance with their swimming techniques. These lessons are for Level 1 through Level 6.

You may schedule for the amount of times that you feel are necessary. If you need
individual lessons, please talk to the pool manager at city hall to schedule a time. The fee
for individual lessons is $10.00 per lesson. This is also based on availability of an
instructor.

Water Safety Instructor Aide Course: The purpose of this classis to provide training for
individuals who wish to assist Water Safety instructors in conducting American Red
Cross Swimming and Water Safety courses. This course will be offered if there is
enough interest. Prerequisite: Level 5 pass and completion. Cost is $35.00

                                LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS

Tots: 6 months – 5 years. Parent and child together in the pool.
Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills. Helps students feel comfortable in the water and
to enjoy the water safely. Students must be 4 years old by the 1st day of the lesson. This
class is reserved for young people who do not require parental help in the water. The
lesson will be given in the shallowest area of the pool and each class will be limited to 6
participants.
Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills. Gives students success with fundamental skills.
Level 3: Stroke Development. Builds on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional
guided practice.
Level 4: Stroke Improvement. Develops confidence in the strokes learned and to
improve other aquatic skills.
Level 5: Stroke Refinement. Provides further coordination and refinement of strokes.
Level 6: Swimming and Skill Proficiency. Refines the strokes so students swim them
with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Level 6 is designed
with “menu” options. Each of these options focus on preparing students to participate in
more advanced courses, such as Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training. These
options include: *Personal Water Safety *Lifeguard Readiness * Fundamentals of Diving
*Fitness Swimming.

Adult Lessons: Sign up at the front desk.
          POOL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1.  The pool will close if the thermometer at First Security Bank is 62 degrees or less.
2.  All swimmers must take a complete shower before entering the pool.
3.  No street shoes are permitted in the pool area.
4.  No running, pushing, dunking, chicken fights, hanging on the life line or gum
    allowed in the pool area.
5. Individuals who have consumed alcoholic beverages, in any amount are not
    permitted in the pool area.
    NO SWIMMING IN THE DEEP WELL UNLESS THE DIVING BOARDS
    HAVE BEEN CLOSED BY THE LIFEGUARDS.
6. All gymnastics are prohibited from the board to the pool and off the deck of the
    pool. This means no back flips, cartwheels etc. off the side of the pool or off the
    diving boards.
7. No glass containers or chairs of any kind are permitted in the pool area. No food
    or beverages are allowed in the pool area or locker room. Check with the pool
    manager for private pool party rules.
8. Only arm floats, life jackets and back bubbles may be used in the pool or wading
    pool as floatation devices. The floater MUST BE accompanied by a chaperone,
    parent or older sibling in the pool.
9. During breaks, everyone must be behind the roping around the pool.
10. No climbing on the lifeguard chairs or handling lifesaving equipment.
11. Respect other’s rights to enjoy their swim time. Profanity, improper behavior and
    vulgar remarks are prohibited.
12. Parents or sitters are not required to dress for swimming or pay when
    accompanying children in the wading pool. We do request no street shoes in the
    pool area.
13. It is recommended that swimmers using the diving board have completed and
    passed Level 3. However, any swimmer proving proficiency in his/her ability to
    swim across the width of the pool with ease will be allowed to use the diving
    board.
14. Never enter the water if the lifeguard is not in the pool area. Respect and obey the
    lifeguards. Please do not attempt to socialize with the lifeguards when they are on
    duty.
15. Smoking is not permitted by any pool personnel or customers anywhere in side
    the pool area or buildings.
16. The pool personnel and the City of Byron are not responsible for lost or stolen
    items.
17. Diving will only be permitted in the deep well.
18. If caught going to the bathroom in the pool, the person will not be allowed to
    return.
