ADVOCACY GROUPS Page 1 of 1
The Session encourages the formation of advocacy groups. Any two or three communicant
members of this congregation who wish to work in behalf of a particular cause, project, candidate,
which they consider to be in furtherance of the will of God may form an advocacy group.
Such groups will be guided by the following principles:
1. They may not use the name of the congregation, denomination, or Session.
Advocacy groups speak on behalf of their actual members only.
2. Advocacy groups may use the church bulletin boards, mimeograph machine,
space in the church newspaper within reasonable limits set by session for all such
groups.
3. Advocacy groups may be related to or include groups from other churches,
presbyterian or ecumenical - and secular groups similarly concerned.
4. The minister and other staff may work as individuals, with groups as
concern lead them.
5. Session retains the right to terminate any advocacy group that it feels to be
diametrically opposed to its understanding of the Gospel as interpreted by the
confessions of the Church.
6. Existence of the advocacy group shall in no way preclude the duty and right
of the Session to declare its conscience on any matter of doctrine or conduct.
