Consultation
The Security Design Group (TSDG) provides extensive consulting services in all areas of
physical security systems and security programs. Offering a unique approach to
assessments by balancing the client’s needs with consideration to budgetary
limitations. The Group has experience in all technical and professional disciplines
relating to the design and implementation of physical security systems, security
programs and the assessment and compliance of both. We never offer a cookie cutter
approach to security consultation but design each system to meet the special needs of
the facility with limited interference to normal operations.

Engineering
Engineering is foremost in all our assignments to ensure that the final security design
reflects the technology of the future with the practical need to create a safe
environment in the present.
The Security Design Group has extensive background in security system designs,
having provided technical solutions longer than any firm in New York City. TSDG has
provided proactive solutions for many prominent firms and complex facilities
throughout the Northeast.
Compliance and Permits
The Security Design Group has specialized in developing plans to meet federal, state
and municipal codes and standards for over 25 years. The designs are always in
compliance with related codes and statures that staff members were instrumental in
developing. Past involvements have included the developing of codes for:
The NYC Department of Buildings
The NYC Fire Department
NFPA
ANSI
BOCA
and other standards writing organizations
TSDG obtains the necessary variances from government agencies for special features
incorporated into our design plans. These system variances include approvals from the
fire and building departments to install locking systems on fire exits in compliance
with NFPA Safety Code 101. No other consultant firm has equaled our success.
Some of the applications for permits, variances and approvals require the services of
Professional Engineering and Master Electricians; members of TSDG possess these
licenses. Variances that have been obtained include:
New York Presbyterian Hospital
Newark Board of Education
Guggenheim Museum
Lexington Hotel
Harlem Hospital
The senior partners are directly involved in all projects, providing supervision and
communication with the client during all phases of the project from initial inception
to final acceptance and assists on developing a practical maintenance program.
Design
The Security Design Group concentrates on state-of-the-art technology when
designing and specifying physical security systems. The transition to IP solutions is
foremost on the minds of the TSDG staff. Our designs focus on a safe environment
while incorporating code compliance, terrorism threats, and privacy issues minimizing
the creation of a fortress like environment.

Installation supervision is often overlooked in the design of security systems, often
rendering them ineffective and compromising its effectiveness. Our principals are
former owners and operators of security integration firms which support the highest
quality installation.
Information Technology
Much of the work conducted by The Security Design Group utilizes state-of-the-art IP
addressable systems requiring interfacing within use of IP networks. The increasing
importance of integrating security systems into IP networks has forced many facilities
to seek a better understanding of the sometimes conflicting goals of both the IT and
Security Departments since they now share the same bandwidth.
TSDG believes that the proper building infrastructure ensures an investment in
information and security technology that optimizes the deployment of a foundation
for diverse and practical information solutions. TSDG considers entrance point sizing
and modifications to avoid significant cost and disruptions. Design criteria consider
bandwidth accessibility, redundant paths, mechanical and electrical system isolation.
Incorporating the prior technology into the design of a new or existing facility can
create flexible, user-friendly environments and save significant costs.
Our strategic partner, COMMSULT Communications, LP, is a full service information
technology design and engineering firm as it relates to all aspects of our clients
Facilities and Information Technology needs. The certified staff members of both
groups provide the solutions in areas of design, engineering, and project
management.
New building (core and shell) engineering for “Class A” redundant
telecommunications outside plant pathways and point of entries in the
buildings as well as multi-purpose riser rooms.
Tenant fit out of new and renovated spaces for all low voltage cabling systems
including room layouts and full electrical and mechanical coordination.
Mission Critical Data Centers including space planning, network, server, and
storage pod configurations, cable infrastructure, cabinets, and pathways.
Training
With the installation of new security equipment, changes in management structure, or
in order to comply with assessment recommendations, The Security Design Group
have seasoned educators to meet every training need.
The Group customizes training programs to meet the requirement of government
regulation while providing training on some of the most current security topics.
Training programs include:
Technology
Device Operations
Emergency Management
State Required
Verbal De-Escalation
Security Management
Security Supervision
Anti-Terrorism
Crime Prevention/Personal Safety
Fire Alarm Code Compliance
Our training session always include attendance verification along with pre and post
testing. We also offer competency assessments and competency training for the staff
we train or for training programs already in place.

Market Research and Product Evaluation
One of the unique services provided by TSDG is assignments from manufacturers and
development firms to analyze new security products/systems for marketability. Some
of the most successful security systems in use today were initially surveyed and
evaluated by the technical staff at TSDG for market potential and uniqueness.
Systems may be revolutionary in their concept but are never properly tested under
field conditions, a mistake that can be fatal in the competitive marketplace.
Regardless of the uniqueness of the product, the client is made aware of the
importance of timing in a market that typically experiences a product life cycle of
less than four years. In this endeavor, we assist in:
Proper Market Research
Product Need
Cost Schedule
Distribution Network
Designing Advertisement Campaigns
Proper Trade Shows and Booth Design
Expertise in the following markets:
Access Control Systems
Electronic Locking Systems
IP Addressable Devices
CCTV Surveillance
Communication Protocols
ID Management Systems
RF Systems
Infant Protection Systems
