citizens of the state who have a proven record of
extraordinary service. Past recipients include award-
winning journalist Charles Kuralt, Rev. Billy Graham,
artist Bob Timberlake and Michael Jordan.
• Kentucky Gov. Paul E. Patton bestowed the honorary
title of Kentucky Colonel in 1999.
• Received his hometown of Granite Falls, NC’s first
"Key to the City" honor in 1993. City council named
