Job Description
TITLE: Sales Manager
DEPARTMENT: Member-Investor Services
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Member-Investor Services
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Account Executive(s)
FLSA: Exempt
SALARY GRADE: XX
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sales Manager’s primary role is to ensure the Chamber’s new member sales and booth
sales goals are met through the success of Chamber Account Executives and Council
volunteers. The Sales Manager must ensure this is accomplished by promoting the positive
aspects of Chamber membership, and how the Chamber can positively impact the
development and growth of businesses throughout Chattanooga and Hamilton County.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the Chamber’s mission and how it
directly applies to existing and prospective members.
Establish positive relations with the principals of businesses throughout the
Chamber’s service area.
Maintain working relationship with Council Board of Directors to establish Council
and area business needs.
Serve as liaison between the Chamber and Council membership volunteers.
Coordinate membership development activities with the Vice President including
commission membership sales efforts, as well as special membership efforts such as
member incentives.
Develop, implement and monitor the sales goals for the Chamber.
Demonstrate ability to manage, motivate and evaluate performance of sales staff.
Capacity to develop and implement detailed plans.
Demonstrate ability to set and meet financial goals.
Aptitude to work under constant pressure and time deadlines.
Willingness to attend Chamber functions such as ribbon cuttings, AM Networkings,
Business After Hours and other such events for recruitment and retention purposes.
Attend internal Chamber meetings.
NON-ESSENTIAL/PERIPHERAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide assistance with company programs as needed, i.e. Reality Check, Chamber
events, etc.
Involvement in civic or philanthropic organizations.
Involvement in professional organizations.
Research for future Chamber programming.

responsibly
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Marketing, communications or business degree from four-year college or university, five
years of outside sales experience and two years of sales management experience; or
minimum of ten years outside sales experience; or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use
hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is
required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with
hands and arms, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
