Noreen Reale Falcone Library
Le Moyne College
o Students want comfortable seating (requested beanbag chairs)
Visitors lessons learned
o Development/construction of commons area completed in phases over 8-
10 years.
o Hamilton had advantage of open floor plan , spent significant amount of
time discussing and planning relocation of offices. All interior walls are
light construction or half height allowing easy removal and relocation
o The IT/Library “service divide” stems from unfamiliarity with one
another’s job, differing professional culture and different “languages”.
Both serve students but get there by different paths. IT deals more
directly with faculty and course IT resource needs in service to the
students, while librarians deal more directly with students and their
research assignments. BOTH serve students.
