who joined us last year said she was impressed that during an interview no one
talked about how many patients she could see in a day … the talk was all about
taking care of patients. A nursing and administrative staff of nearly fifty skilled
and capable professionals supports our doctors. Our electronic medical record-
keeping and other systems create efficiencies so doctors can be doctors.
The doctor who joins our practice on a partnership track will serve two years as
an associate. Our doctors have strong work ethics, so this person will want to
have the same commitment. We will have a one-in-three call, but schedule and
hours can flex. Salary is competitive with a two-year guarantee. We pay health
and dental insurance and provide marketing support (public relations, print and
radio advertising) to accelerate the growth of a new doctor’s practice. We enjoy
relatively low professional liability insurance premiums in Indiana’s favorable
medical malpractice climate.

News Release
Partners in Health Office Building
Opens Monday on Lawrenceburg Riverfront
Lawrenceburg, Ind., March 24, 2005 – One of Dearborn County’s largest construction
projects will come on line Monday (March 28) as Partners in Health opens the doors to its new
medical office building in downtown Lawrenceburg.
The 30,000 square foot state-of-the-art complex and 772 car parking garage is located at
Elm and High Streets and marks another step in the Lawrenceburg’s downtown revitalization.
An adjacent 75,000 square foot office building to the west is under construction and expected to
be completed in January, and plans for a nearby hotel and entertainment complex are moving
forward.
Partners in Health will occupy the entire fourth floor and 15,000 square feet, up from
9,500 on three floors at the Dearborn County Hospital Professional Building. The facility is
designed to accommodate nearly twice the number of physicians currently in the practice.
Partners in Health anticipates using the third floor to provide other medical services and/or
leasing space other medical groups.
Partners in Health was founded in 1999 and includes eight physicians in three practice
areas. Physicians are: Family Practice – Dr. Daniel J. Barkdoll, Dr. David W. Dobbs, and Dr.
Amy Mechley; Internal Medicine – Dr. Lynn Eiler, Dr. Nancy A. Kennedy, and Dr. Jeanne M.
Thompson; Women’s Center (Obstetrics/Gynecology) – Dr. Glenn L. Dobbs and Dr. Carol M.
Lovins. Six founding members remain in the group – Doctors Barkdoll, David Dobbs, Glenn
Dobbs, Eiler, Kennedy and Lovins.
“We believe this is an important building block for the delivery of health care and
medical services in Dearborn County,” said Dr. Lynn Eiler, president of group.
“It’s going to mean greater convenience for our patients and more options for health care
consumers in our area. We had outgrown our space at the hospital complex and our three
practices were spread out over different floors. One doctor didn’t have an office. This will mean
greater efficiencies, and we can pass those along to patients.”
Page 2
Partners in Health made the decision to build a medical office complex in 2002. When
the City of Lawrenceburg proposed the riverfront location, the doctors were intrigued by the idea
of their offices opening onto the walking and bicycle path with the Ohio River and Kentucky
hills as a backdrop.
“Besides the convenient location and virtually front-door parking, it’s a beautiful building
and a beautiful setting,” said Eiler. “We believe this facility will enable us to attract outstanding
physicians to join our practice as we grow, and we hope some Dearborn residents who now
travel distances for their medical care will choose to stay at home.”
Eiler said the decision to move from the Dearborn County Hospital complex was
difficult, but one he believes will benefit everyone in the long term. “We’ve enjoyed our
relationship with the hospital and we want to thank Pete Resnick and his staff for the role they
have played in our growth. As we continue to grow, it’s reassuring to know that a hospital of
this caliber is close by and able to serve our patients.”
The two-year, $15 million project was coordinated by Grant Hughes, Facilities
Construction Management, and was completed on time and under budget. Project participants
included Messer Construction of Cincinnati; THP engineers, a firm with extensive experience in
parking facilities; Champlin Haupt architects, which has designed a number of medical offices;
Heapy Engineering and Hudepohl Construction Company. Construction began in September,
2003 and more than 100 workers were on the site at peak times.
“This has been a very satisfying experience,” said Hughes, a Dearborn County resident
who has overseen projects throughout the country and worked with corporate clients including
Toyota and Nissan. “The doctors have been very engaged in the project from day one. We met
every Tuesday morning at 6:15 before the doctors started their rounds to review progress and
talk construction issues. Their whole focus has been on what is best for the patient and how to
deliver better service.”
Hughes said the site presented special challenges, including meeting architectural
standards of Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, flood control due to the riverfront
location, and the installation of utilities and storm sewers.
Other highlights and noteworthy items about the project:
* The Partners in Health office complex includes 33 examination rooms, 10 doctor’s offices,
central records area, large waiting room with a view of the Ohio River and Kentucky hills, and
children’s waiting/play area. Space is available for reconfiguration to accommodate and
additional 10 examination rooms and five doctor’s offices. Warm tones predominate in three
compatible color combinations.
* The Women’s Center will feature “4-D Ultrasound Viewing” capabilities, adding the
dimension of time to traditional three-dimensional pictures and offering pregnant patients a 10-
minuite video tape of a baby in the womb. One examination room is equipped with a 20-inch
wall-mounted flat-screen television for viewing these images.
Page 3
* The building required approval of Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana. The red brick
façade includes accents of the Federal period.
* Garage ceilings are 12 feet high where Partners in Health patients will park at no charge. The
garage features a high density of light and includes 755 standard and 17 handicapped spaces on
three floors, two inside the garage and an open area at the level of the building’s third floor.
* The building’s plaza off the third floor leads to the walking and bicycle path and features a
convenient drop-off location accessible through the parking garage.
* Collaboration and cooperation were important components of the project, which involved the
City of Lawrenceburg, the Lawrenceburg Bond Bank, the Lawrenceburg Redevelopment
Commission, the Lawrenceburg Conservancy District, and Partners in Health and its project
coordinator Facilities Construction Management.
* City officials estimate the new facility will bring hundreds of additional people into
downtown Lawrenceburg each day. When fully occupied, the complex will house about 100
employees and serve 300 to 500 patients daily.
* Dr. Amy Mechley said she “can’t wait” for the move to the new complex. She joined the
