Dear Faith in Action Friends,
I just got off the phone from one of our clients. Her volunteer, who drove
her for shopping and errands, recently had an increase in family responsi-
bilities, and could no longer help. Since that time, the client has been call-
ing us weekly, hoping that we have found a replacement.
On the surface, this elderly woman’s needs aren’t that great. She can walk
better than many of our clients, and lives in downtown Issaquah, where
Claire Petersky, stores and services are within a few blocks. She says she wants a ride to
Executive Director the hairdressers and to Bartell’s a couple of times a month. If you would
meet her, though, you’d realize that what she really needs is simply some-
one to talk to. It’s really hard, though, to call up an agency and say, “I’m
Faith in Action— lonely”. “I need someone to listen to me and care about me”.
