Adriana Galan,

Adriana Galan has eighteen years experience in public health, consultancy and training,
main areas of interest and expertise being: Health Status Evaluation, Public Health
Strategies and Health Policy Development, Design and Implementation of Health
Information Systems, Human Resources Research and Planning.
Other current appointments are as part-time lecturer at the University of Medicine and
Pharmacy Bucharest, Department of Public Health and Management. She also undertakes
work for WHO ECEH-Bonn on Health Information Systems for Environmental Health,
as well as for other international consultancy companies.
Her work has included national and international work, covering activities such as:
reviewing and editing the National Public Health Strategy of Romania (2004);
contributing to the development of the MoH Strategic Plan for 2008-2010 – drafting the
chapter Increase the accessibility of population to health services; preparing a national
report on review of policies and capacities for integrated prevention and control of NCD,
including cancer (WHO contractual partner). International activities included: European
coordinator of the EC funded project ENHIS-2 (Work package 5) on methodologies for
data retrieval from international data sources, country coordinator for the Forum of
Public Health in South-Eastern Europe, regional editor of the Croatian Medical Journal.
She has worked in countries throughout Europe, and North America, contributing to the
strengthening of the public health network in South-Eastern Europe, developing training
programmes in the field of Public Health and Health Management for SEE region,
publishing either as co-author or main editor a set of handbooks mainly destined for
trainers in SEE region, developing capacity building programs with different north-
American universities in the field of public health and management.
