ICT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Ida Ireland is the Government agency responsible for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) to
Ireland. IDA’s portfolio of nearly 1,000 clients accounts for 240,000 direct and indirect jobs and exports
of €110 billion. Despite global economic challenges, Ireland continues to attract significant FDI.
Research, development and innovation is playing an increasing role in attracting FDI.
ICT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST – THE ROLE
The role will involve extensive business travel and will include presenting Ireland’s business location
opportunities to multinational corporations. As a member of Team Ireland and the IDA ICT Global Team,
your key deliverables will include:
Identify and exploit research and business opportunities to maximise economic and
employment benefits in Ireland
Maximise both the stand alone and collaborative research and development agenda
Establish the opportunities for significant linkages between the research community and
client companies so as to initiate collaborative investment projects for IDA’s multinational
ICT portfolio
Drive the transfer of the wider understanding of research capabilities in Ireland especially as
they apply to novel areas such as cloud computing, sensor application, and smart
technologies to IDA ‘s client base
Contribute to the national research agenda from an IDA perspective
THE INDIVIDUAL
IDA Ireland is seeking to engage an individual who is working at masters or preferably PhD level, with a
software bias and has an in-depth knowledge of corporate technology roadmaps and a clear
understanding of academic research in Ireland.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the ability to engage credibly with senior level
executives in multinational companies, command respect from academic institutions, represent IDA in
interagency collaborations and connect appropriately with funding agencies. You will work as part of a
team and have vision and creativity to drive this important agenda as well as the ability to influence
effectively. Additionally, you will have extensive experience of working in industry.
