Sparkman Middle School Cheerleaders
To Parents and Prospective Cheerleaders:
Sparkman Middle takes great pride in their cheerleading program. We are currently
working to produce a National Championship Squad. To make this a reality, we must have
110% cooperation from you. A cheerleading squad, like any other team takes a great deal
of hard work, cooperation, time and caring on the part of the cheerleader, the parents, the
coach and the administration. Guidelines must be set and followed in order for a team to
reach its full potential. Please read the following guidelines and information thoroughly.
Tryouts: March 23, 25, and 27
Parent Meeting: March 23 at 5:00 p.m.
Tryout Requirements
Group Cheer
Individual Cheer
2 jumps: Toe Touch and jump of your choice

Please know that CAMP is MANDATORY for all cheerleaders. Camp will be the week of
June 8th. We will have a private UCA camp at school.
Please be sure you and your parents read these rules and regulations. There will be
fundraising projects, summer practices, cheerleading camps and clinics to attend. Be ready
for some extra expenses like shoes, tights, camp clothes, etc.
The school has uniforms for the cheerleaders, if an individual makes the squad that
cannot wear any of the uniforms we have; it is up to the cheerleader and parent to alter or
get a uniform to match the others. The school will not pay for extra uniforms or alterations.
Please read the attached information on regulations and demerits. If you are willing to
abide by all requirements listed you will need to:

Teacher Evaluation for Competition Cheerleading
This student is trying out for the 2009-2010 Sparkman Middle Competition Cheerleading
squad. He/She must have three completed teacher recommendations in order to tryout.
Teacher evaluations will be averaged together to count for a potion of each candidate’s
score. It is very important that you rate the student according to how you feel the student
does in your class or classes. Please be realistic as well as fair. These evaluations will not
be shared with the student. They will be confidential and tallied by the judges.
Please place the recommendation in a sealed envelope and return it to the student. The
student will give me the envelope before tryouts.
Thank you for your time and cooperation. If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact me.
