Data collection. You should describe how the data was gathered, and include in an appendix your
list of interview questions or questionnaire items. Describe as well your experience of collecting the
data, insofar that it led you to have some insight on the topic itself.
The data collection process was an important aspect in determining the main challenges
which organizations face today. The team developed questions to distribute and process the
responses. The results of the survey enabled the team to narrow down the challenges and also
identify the main issues within them.
To determine the questions the team first brainstormed ideas in which we thought would
might be challenges organizations face today. In addition, we included much more detailed issues
within each challenge and allowed respondents to select as many as applied to their organization.
Our survey also included an open ended question to allow respondents the ability to show us other
challenges or issues which we may have missed.
The survey was distributed electronically using a suggested email template the team
developed with a link to a website containing the questions. The primary recipients included
managers of organizations of all sizes and industries. The team sent out about 130 surveys
collecting 76 responses back. A great deal of the success in our surveys response was due to setting
up the survey with our respondents in mind. The survey was designed with short to the point
questions which were easily answered in a few minutes. The team analyzed the survey results
using a number of different charts, graphs, and pivot tables which helped to reach our conclusion.
The survey questions can be found attached in appendix NUMBER and the analyzed data is depicted
below.
