Healthy food for beautiful skin
What food we eat would eventually take a toll on our complexion. Eating healthy foods is one of the best things
we can do for our skin. It helps us glow from within. Everyone wants to have a clear and vibrant skin. And all
without the use of any expensive treatment or commercially prepared product. Most fruits and vegetables are
generally good for the skin but there are those which are more potent and could bring about a more noticeable
change.
Citrus fruits
The family of Citrus help eliminate free radicals because it is rich in vitamin C and it has powerful antioxidant
properties. Citrus family are also a better source of collagen. Collagen helps maintain the elasticity of the skin.
It also keep the formation of wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin from happening.
Essential Fatty Acids
Essential fatty acids, better known as Omega-3 and Omega-6 are needed not only for maintaining the skins’
integrity but also for the proper functioning of our body’s cells. Essential fatty acids can be found in lavish
quantities in nuts, soybean, canola oil, walnut oil and flaxseed oil. Fish are also a good source of Omega-3 and
Omega-6, especially cold water fish like-- salmon, bluefish, herring, tuna, cod, flounder, mackerel and shrimp.
Berries
Like citrus fruits, berries also help manufacture collagen. They are also a good source of fiber and have rich
antioxidant properties. They furnish additional vitamins C and E as well.
Protein rich foods
In order to assist the progress of our skin renewal, we should include foods which are rich in protein in our diet.
Examples of these are meat, fish, eggs, lentils, legumes, and beans.
Vitamin E
Another extremely effective antioxidant is Vitamin E. Vitamin E keeps the skin from being damage caused by
free radicals and tends the skin from drying. It also plays an important role in keeping the skin away from aging
prematurely and speed up the healing process. Vegetable oils, various nuts and seeds, grains, and sweet
potaoes are rich sources of Vitamin E.
Vitamin A
Foods that rich in Vitamin A should be included in a diet. This makes us stay away from various skin diseases
from happening and is necessary in the maintenance of the skins moisture and texture. Vitamin A deficiency
does not only affect the skin but can also cause blindness and hair loss. It can be found in dark green vegetables
like broccoli and spinach and in dark orange vegetables like carrots. Other sources are in milk, butter, eggs, and
liver.
Water
In order to survive our body needs water. 6-8 glasses of water are required everyday. Caffein and other
carbonated drinks are not included. It keeps our body well hydrated and it restores the youthful appearance of our
cells.
Whether we like it or not, we are indeed what we eat. Our diet would show on our skin as bright as day. If we
want to have beautiful and clear skin then we must start by feeding our body right.
