*There will be Uniformed Police Officers at the first three intersections on the
bike: Cape Horn Park and Cape Horn Road, Cape Horn Road and Hanover Pike,
Hanover Pike and Basler Road).
Second run:
Same as 1st run, but you will finish instead of turning into transition. (This will be monitored on
race day so you don’t miss it)
Runners and bikers, please be familiar with the course. Make mental notes of where you are
going and be safe. The running route will be closed to all traffic, but the bike course will not.
Don’t run side by side, to give room for athletes to pass you, or for you to pass them. Once
you get close to the finish line, you will be ushered by volunteers where to go.
Bikers, the roads you are cycling on will not be closed to traffic. There will be volunteers and
arrows at all intersections where you are supposed to turn. There will not be volunteers at
intersections where you should not turn. So only turn where you are told to do so by a
volunteer or police officer wearing a safety vest.
Make sure you yield to traffic, obey traffic laws, use common sense, and are familiar with the
course. Safety is key!!
Also, remember common courtesy of the other cyclists. Pass only on the left side of other
cyclists and use the standard “On your left!” when you pass.
We are not allowed to mark up the roads, so keep an eye out for potholes, signs, volunteers,
and police to direct you.
Also, you must wear a helmet on the bike, and no headphones while cycling.
There will be one aid station directly adjacent to the transition area. It will have Gatorade and
water.
Please review the course maps posted on the website. This will help you “wrap your mind”
around where you will be going on race day.
You will be given a race number, which you must wear the entire time during the race.
This is a USAT certified race and their rules apply. Please visit
http://www.usatriathlon.org/resources/about-events/rules to download the rules and
regulations that will be is force during the race.
Also, if you have not purchased the $10.00 one day USA Triathlon license when registering
online, you will have to do so at packet pick-up. Otherwise, you must present your current USA
Triathlon membership card, with a valid photo ID at registration / packet pick-up. If you wish,
instead of purchasing the one-day license, you can purchase a full yearly membership at
Endurance MarylandLLC.
