  because of the increase in the number of reported injuries.

      Memorial Shield
      A     MICUS CAMPAIGNS OFFICER John Park has
            been awarded the Jimmy Waugh Memorial
      Shield for his service to trade unions. The award,
      which was presented to John at the STUC Youth
      Conference, is in recognition of his achievements as
      a (relatively) young trade unionist.
          Speaking after receiving his award John, said: ‘I
      was very surprised and slightly embarrassed, but
      obviously honoured to receive the award,
      particularly as I am now nudging my thirtieth year.
          ‘It is impossible to deliver change and achieve on
      behalf of your members unless you have support
      and encouragement from your union and clearly
      that is exactly what I have had from my friends and
      colleagues at every level in Amicus.’
