Teacher Suggestion:
Have the students take notes over the power point using the
combination notes format. See the combination notes document in
Unit 1 activities on COL for an example.
Have them number their slides in their notes. (this is useful for
identifying where they found the correct answer when doing test
corrections)
After taking notes they should complete their visual representation of
the words and phrases in their notes on the right side of the paper and
a summary at the bottom.

Double Bubble Map – Potential vs Kinetic Energy &
Multi Flow Map about Photosynthesis
1. ENERGY
Energy
•is the ability to do
work or work
being done on an
object.
2. Two kinds of energy.
•Kinetic
•potential
3. KINETIC ENERGY
Kinetic - energy of
motion.
Example
•A flying rubber band;
•falling dominos.
4. Properties of Kinetic Energy
The faster the object moves the more
kinetic energy.
• Car going 25 mph vs. car going 50 mph
The more mass an objects has the
greater the kinetic energy.
4. POTENTIAL ENERGY
Potential
• energy of position;
• stored energy.
Example
• Stretched rubber
band
• stacked dominos.
5. Types of potential energy
Two type of potential energy
• Elastic potential energy
–Depends on stretch
• Gravitational potential energy
–Depends on height
CPS Quiz Choose from
A. Energy B. kinetic C. Potential
The ability to do work or work being done on an
object is
Energy of position or stored energy
Can depend on height
A flying rubber band
A rubber band stretched or stacked dominos
energy of motion
Based on movement
10. Energy Conversion
Energy changing from
one form to another.
6. LAW OF CONSERVATION OF
ENERGY
Energy cannot
be created nor
destroyed but
may be
changed from
one form to
another.
