bigger. The complementarity between solar energy and wind energy in time sequence makes

B、 Best option in technical configuration

     Photovoltaic power system is the system which convert the solar energy into electricity

through the solar panel, then charge the batteries through controller, then supply electricity to

consumer through inverter. The advantage of the system is with high reliability, low maintenance

     The wind power system is the system which convert the wind energy into electricity through

wind turbine generator, then charge batteries through controller, then supply the electricity to

consumers through inverter. The advantage of the wind system is with higher energy production,

low system cost and maintenance cost, the disadvantage is the reliability of domestic small wind

turbine generators remaining unsolved.

     Besides, the common disadvantage of the wind system and photovoltaic system is the

uncertainty of the resources leading the unbalance between energy production and load

consumption and both being in need of batteries for stabilizing the power supply.

     As the complementary between solar energy and wind energy, the wind/photovoltaic hybrid

power system can overcome some shortcomings of the stand-alone wind power system and

photovoltaic power system in aspect of resources. Meanwhile the battery bank and the inverter

can be shared, so the wind/photovoltaic hybrid power system can reduce the cost and make the

2、 Scientific assessment to wind/photovoltaic hybrid power system.
A、 Wind keeps change all the time, to scale the wind power system by watt power in a certain

     wind condition is not scientific. The AIR403 wind turbine generator made by American

     Southwest Windpower, Inc. is named 400W ( the output power is 400W at rated wind speed

     of 12.5m/s), but there are only 70 hours of which wind speed is over 12.5m/s.

B、 The variation of the annual average wind speed in a certain area is very small, the annual

     electricity production can be calculated from it. So using annual electricity production to

     name and scale the wind power system is more reasonable.

     speed, the wind speed varies between 3m/s – 8m/s in most of time a year. The

     wind, high salty, strong typhoon and storm, the system maintenance should be least, the

dynamic suspending compound is inevitably kept in vibration and fatigue, then led moving parts

damage so as to break down the wind generator.



    Nowadays, the best small wind generators only remain tree moving parts. (The less moving

parts, the higher reliability, that gains popular consents.)

          a.   Rotor driving the rotation of the generator’s main shaft

          b. Tail driving the navigation of the wind generator head

          c. The moving part for limiting the speed during big wind.

A、The new control philosophy to the small wind power system

    The purpose of setting speed limitation protection during big wind is to reduce the wind

energy absorbed by wind generator when wind generator output is bigger than the sum of power

consumption and storage in system as the wind speed reach a certain level, (let us call it

over-power) so as the wind generator not to run      in over speed.

    At present, the modes of over-speed protection in world can be classified into two kinds:

          a、Yawing the rotor away from wind direction through a mechanism to reduce the

          windward area of rotor, so as to reduce the wind energy absorption.

          b、Pitching the blades by centrifugal force through a mechanism to reduce the rotor

               efficiency of using wind energy so as to reduce the effect of wind energy absorption.

    As the result of these mechanical over-speed protection devices have not good reliability,

besides the factor of not proper man-made design, actually there exit its essential shortcoming. In

nature, the wind is very complicated, the turbulence is its main form, meanwhile the wind speed

and direction varies frequently and swiftly, it is impossible          for any mechanical device to

response the variation of the actual wind, plus the long time operation leading the mechanical

wear and bigger clearance between matching parts, all these result in protection in lag, in vain as

well as intensified vibration, then cause the wind generator over-speed, over load, strong

vibration    and sort of breakage result.

strength of the blade is very important to the whole wind power system. The turbine blades of the

Windtalk wind power system use NASA CLACK – Y dynamic type design, the wind energy
