Terms & Conditions
By applying for the Dublin GDL Scholarship 2011 (“Scholarship”) and/or accepting
the Scholarship Award, the Applicant and/or recipient agrees to the following terms
and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”). Submitting your application for the
Scholarship and, if applicable, acceptance of any Scholarship Award, you are
confirming your agreement to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and
the General Terms and Conditions. Failure to abide by any of the following
terms and conditions may result in either disqualification or termination of the
These Terms and Conditions are supplemental to BPP’s general terms and
conditions of Scholarship for academic programmes (“General Terms and
Conditions”) which apply in respect of all BPP’s degree courses commencing in
September 2011 (“Courses” each a “Course”) offered by BPP Law School at the
locations described (“Selected Centres”) and which are available upon request either
by contacting email@example.com or calling 0845 077 5101.
The Scholarship may be awarded to Applicants accepted on the following Courses at
the Selected Centres stated below:

(i) Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) Distance Learning programme; BPP Dublin,
Please read these Terms and Conditions and the General Terms and Conditions
carefully before submitting your application and print off a copy for your records.
BPP will not file or otherwise keep a copy of the agreement concluded between you
and BPP and a copy of the concluded agreement will not be available from BPP at a
future time and date.
If there is any conflict between these Terms and Conditions and the General Terms
and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions will prevail.
In these Terms and Conditions (“BPP”) means BPP University College of
Professional Studies Limited of BPP House, Aldine Place, 142 -144 Uxbridge Road,
London W12 8AA.
Conditions of Scholarship
1. Eligible Students may apply for the Scholarship by completing the Application
Form available [Online Web-link] (“Applicant”).
2. The Scholarship may only be awarded to an Applicant who is eligible for the
Scholarship (as set out in clause 4),and who:
(a) meets the admission requirements for the Course, which are set out at
(b) submits an application for the Course and, is subsequently offered a
place on the Course by BPP;
(c) submits an application for the Scholarship in accordance with these
Terms and Conditions;
(d) subject to any conditions upon which BPP’s offer is made, accepts the
offer of a place on the Course;
(e) pays the full Course Fees without assistance and not be in receipt of
any other bursary, scholarship, sponsorship or assistance from any
other organisation, including an employer, charitable body or
government department with respect to the Course Fees (excluding
living expenses or accommodation).
(f) Completes the Course in the timescale intended for the Course.
3. To apply for the Scholarship, Applicants must submit, along with their
application for the Course:
(a) Confirmation of Eligibility for the Scholarship;
(b) a summary of why they are the best Applicant for the Scholarship
(maximum 500 words) which demonstrates exceptional academic
achievement, shows clear commitment towards a career within the
legal profession and outlines a clear financial need; and
(c) a copy of their most current Curriculum Vitae;
(d) Relevant supporting documents to strengthen the Application
including but not limited to bank statements, job references, tutor
references. All references and any supporting documentation must be
sent as part of the full application for the Course, nothing submitted
separately will be considered
(e) The Application, including any supporting documentation, must be no
more than 10 sides of A4.
(f) Signed declaration that the contents of the Application are true and

4. This Scholarship is only available in accordance with these Terms and
Conditions and the General Terms and Conditions and only to Applicants who
meet the following eligibility criteria:
(a) Entrants must be able to demonstrate academic excellence;
(b) UK nationals or nationals of any other country within the European
Economic Area or individuals with indefinite leave to remain in the UK;
(c) Meet the admission requirements for the Course which are set out at

5. Notwithstanding the provisions of clause 3, the following are not eligible for
the Scholarship Award:
(a) Employees of BPP, or a family member of a BPP employee, or any of
its affiliates. If the recipient of the Scholarship becomes an employee
of BPP, then they will no longer be Eligible for the Scholarship;
(b) Debtors of BPP;
(c) Applicants who are not offered a place on the Course by BPP;
(d) Applicants who are Non-European Economic Area Persons or have
limited leave to remain in the UK;
6. The Scholarship consists of a rebate of Course Fees only to the value of
£7,150. The Scholarship only applies to the Course set out above.
7. The Scholarship does not include any other discount or financial benefit to
Customers and does not apply to amounts payable to the professional body
for student / delegate registration, exemptions and examination entries.
8. The Scholarship does not include education supplies and living expenses
which are not included in the Course Fees.
9. The Scholarship is only available for Courses taken at the Selected Centres
and the Scholarship is made subject to availability and to the Course running
on the scheduled dates.
10. The Scholarship is only available for Courses with a start date in September
11. Recipients may be required to provide written acknowledgement of
acceptance of these Terms and Conditions before receiving the Scholarship
Conditions relating to the Award of the Scholarship
12. Subject to paragraph 18 of these Terms and Conditions, the closing date for
applications for the Scholarship is 5 pm on 16 September 2011 (“Closing

14. The Scholarship is non-transferable by the recipient (either to another Student
or to another course run by BPP) and no cash alternative will be awarded.
15. BPP’s standard cancellation and deferral terms will apply to the Course as set
out in the General Terms and Conditions. Should any refund or credit note be
due to the recipient, the value of such refund or credit note will be the amount
of fees actually paid by the recipient excluding the value of the Scholarship
Award. Should a recipient choose to defer the start date of their Course in
accordance with the General Terms and Conditions, the Scholarship will not
apply to the rebooking of the deferred course and additional course fees may
16. Should a recipient choose to amend a Course, including but not limited to,
converting from a full-time to a part-time course, then additional course fees
may be payable. Should a recipient fail to complete the Course in two years
or fail any part or parts of the Course such that he or she is required to re-sit
that part or parts in the following year, then additional course fees will be
17. If, after receiving the Scholarship, a recipient cancels their booking for the
Course, then the Scholarship will no longer be available to that Student (even
if still generally available to other Students).
18. BPP’s reserves the right to withdraw this Scholarship at any time without
notice. BPP may update or amend the Scholarship, these Terms and
Conditions and/or the General Terms and Conditions from time to time to
comply with law or meet its changing business requirements without notice to
you. Any updates or amendments will be posted on the BPP website at
19. BPP has the right to select an alternative recipient of the Scholarship if:
(a) An Applicant is not eligible for this Scholarship for any reason;
(b) There is any question of authenticity in relation to an Applicant’s
application for the Scholarship. If BPP discovers that any submission
is not 100% genuine, then the Scholarship Award will be immediately
forfeit without liability to BPP.
(c) BPP does not receive from the winner all documentation required in
connection with the Scholarship within the deadline notified by BPP;
20. The recipient of the Scholarship acknowledges that BPP may immediately
terminate the Scholarship if the recipient:
(a) Portrays BPP or any of its affiliates in a negative, harmful or
disparaging, offensive or otherwise inappropriate manner, as
determined in BPP’s sole discretion.
(b) Is accused of or convicted of a crime during the term of the

In the event that BPP terminates the Scholarship in accordance with this
Clause, then all outstanding Course Fees shall become payable in full within
60 days of such termination.
21. BPP will process the information it receives from you or otherwise holds about
you in accordance with these Terms and Conditions, the General Terms and

relevant provisions of local law:
(a) A right to use the entrant’s name, likeness and / or biographical
information in any publicity or statement made in connection with the
award of the Scholarship in accordance with 19(b);
(b) The recipient of the Scholarship may be required to take part in
reasonable post-award publicity for BPP and may be filmed,
photographed or otherwise recorded by BPP or other third parties for
publicity and the winners consent to the use of their personal data for
such purposes and agrees to attend such events as may be

24. Applicants acknowledge that the receipt of the Scholarship Award may be
subject to execution by the recipient of an assignment of rights or further
documentation in respect of any application.
25. Each entrant warrants to BPP that his/her entries are entirely their own work,
that the contents of the Application are true and accurate and do not infringe
the intellectual property or other rights of any person.
26. The winner must complete all formalities with BPP.
27. BPP is not liable for any delay or failure to perform any obligation to
Applicants that is caused by any circumstance beyond BPP’s reasonable
control or by any act or omission of any third party. BPP shall not be liable to
any Applicant for any financial loss arising out of the refusal, cancellation or
withdrawal of any Scholarship or any failure or inability of an Applicant to
receive the Scholarship for any reason.
28. These Terms and Conditions and any non-contractual obligation arising out of
or in connection with these Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and
construed in accordance with English law and BPP and Applicants irrevocably
submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts with regard to any
claim arising under or in connection with these Terms and Conditions and any
non-contractual obligation arising out of or in connection with these Terms
